Not spending this offseason has been a great move. The salaries the players were demanding are absurd. There were one maybe two marquee players available per position, and because of this second rate guys were getting way too much money. We will build through the draft, whether you like it or not.
They didn't overpay for mediocre players. Lets face it, the FA's available this year were not that great. I'm happy we're not killing our future.
Maynard looks like he'd get snapped like a twig if he played today. I've seen some highlights, and the guy had great hands, but what was his ticket into the hall of fame? I just don't know much about the guy.
^^ Can't you spot a brother a little wisdom and insight? You know, gained from actually watching the guy play?
The writers who voted him into the HOF must have thought he was a xtra ordinary player right otherwise he would not have been voted in? Naturally as a fan I thought he was terrific. He would catch balls in traffic. For sure could stretch the field. He was DEPENDABLE game after game after game. He was a pleasure to watch play.
Now that we have signed that QB from the raiders TUI i can see i was wrong in the title of my thread it should have been jets NFG on FA
I would have signed Drew Bennet. Everybody said he wouldn't want to come here a be the third wideout but he went to play behind Bruce and Holt in an offense that wants to feature Steven Jackson in two tight end sets............. Bennet would catch way more balls here.
Jets FA --From NG to NFG to Fair a couple of weeks ago i posted my take on the Jets pursuit of free agents getting tom jones was a trade and not a FA acquisition--so he is not counted in rating the FA market ---BTW tom jones was a very good singer in the 60's---hope he is not to old to tote the rock my rating of NG was because they only got kenyon coleman and darian barnes who is just a substitute for BJ askew ---very dissapointing It droped to NFG when they signed TUI the QB from the raiders ---ughhhhhhh bring back ramsey Then my rating went up to fair with the signings of michael haynes ----andre wadsworth and the guy from the dolphins --david barnes still not great ---no big names ---still not closing the gap personel wise with the patriots
Why would ramsy stay here and be a 3rd stringer while he could be a back up for a very good denver team??
why are you so concerned about the 3rd string QB? It seems obvious the plan is go groom Clemens as the future QB and that the CS has faith in him. Ramsey sucks anyway.
Spare me. New England has won not because of free agency, but because they built a solid core through the draft and player development. When they added Mike Vrabel, no one was jumping up and down. Their quarterback was a late round steal. They added Corey Dillon later on, but before that they won a Super Bowl with Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk. Moreover, the Jets drafted Kellen Clemens where they did because they had confidence in his abilities. You can't baby him as a number 3. What did you want them to do, dump an inflated contract on some hack like Harrington? Tuiasasopo is a smart veteran and a high character guy. Most of all he's a number 3, so it's really irrelevant. Most teams have athletes or washouts as a 3. Bowens is a smart sensible pickup. The Jets didn't throw any absurd contracts at guards. They have a nice young talent base, and they upgraded their depth. As far as closing the gap with New England goes, you're insane. The Jets have a young roster. The Patriots are starting four linebackers 30 and above. They still have a suspect secondary, and their second year running back was just found to have significant shoulder damage. Finally...for the last few years the Redskins have gone out of their way to "close the talent gap" with everyone and their mother. How many playoff appearances have they made? -X-
