That isn't my only evidence...I have said many times if you watch his game film you will see he does not have a weak arm...MANY times I have said that.

And I am getting REALLY fuckin sick of this assumption that I have some fetish for Leinart. Since when have I ever said WE MUST GET LEINART? It's the only move we can make?

I have no problem with us staying at 4 and taking another player...It is really becoming annoying.

would you have a problem if we took Young over Leinart?

YES!!!! Young sucks, he's a running QB who can't throw, his mechanics sucks, he has shown nothing as a passer, he can only run and he is dumb as a box of rocks. Ok he can throw the ball far, but is not even close. he's a bust guaranteed. On Apr 3 2006 I guarantee Vince Young will fail miserably in the NFL and become the ultimate bust. Everyone points out how he single handily beat USC. Well USC 's defense sucks and a pop warner team could beat that defense they hand. What he did in that game means nothing.

Leinart is the real deal. He's a QB , unlike Young.

If we stay at #4 and we select Vince Young I will be very happy. If people on here lately weren't so damn assuming, then they would realize I like many more players than Matt Leinart.

    wow.

Have you ever seen Vince Young play? It doesn't sound like it. Here's some stats to backup your statement "he's done nothing as a passer".

YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
    2003 84 143 1155 58.7 8.08 67 6 7 10 130.64
    2004 148 250 1849 59.2 7.40 49 12 11 9 128.37
    2005 212 325 3036 65.2 9.34 75 26 10 13 163.95

Looks like very impressive numbers to me that just keep getting better. The guy has a very strong arm and is very accurate.

Are you nostradomas? You garauntee a phenomenally talented athelete who's a proven winner to be bust before the draft.

If USC's defense was soooooooo horrible, why did they only lose in the National Championship Game? Granted they had a great offense but if their defense was as poor as you suggest I'm sure they would have lost a lot more.

If VY is so dumb, how was he so successfull? Marino scored poorly on that Wonderlic test too. He did alright in the NFL.

You didn't really make one good argument as to why "Young sucks".

Personally I'd rather have Leinart but wouldn't be the least bit upset if we took Young. We probably won't get either.

There was a fairly good football game played earlier this year.. maybe you might have gotten a glimpse of it. Trying to remember now... I think it might have been called the "Rose Bowl" or something like that. Did you happen to see the game?

Did you watch texas? there was NEVER any pressure in his face whatsoever. Yet he still ran...Youngs job in that offense was read what the lbs were doing and decide if he wanted to run. He knows what he's gonna do before it happens and never changes his mind based on what he sees. The best qbs have the patience and recognition to find the best option to throw to. Young does NOT do that, regardless of his passer rating.

I'm not a big Leinart fan. He's got great intangibles and his leadership skills can't be questioned. But against good defenses he struggled. In the Notre Dame game he made many mistakes and if he doesn't fumble the ball out of bounds, if he hold onto it like he's suppossed to they lose that game, alot of it having to do with his poor play. The big passing play at the end of the game on the last drive was badly misplayed by the corner, resulting in the big gain. It was an out pattern I believe that against New England or Miami would be taken for 6 the other way.

Once again! Why isn't there any hype about ANY Texas offsenive player besides Young?

yes I watched most of Texas games. The reason they didn't get much pressure on him teams where scared to blitz him because of his legs.
I'm not trying to say the Texas line sucked, but they where not a great line.

because their olinemen? look at the patriots line for example any elite linemen there? NO! they just work great together, much like the wisconsin Dline of a couple years ago, some guys just have great chemistry together and work well as a unit. The best way to build a great oline is start from the ground up and keep the same solid unit together and they'll get better every year

    the way i see it:

every draft you can find at least 2 potential franchise QB's.

if we're willing to trade picks this year, then we'd probably be willing to trade picks next year to get a QB.

with the position we're in this year - 3 picks in the first 35 selections - we should use those picks to get the most value we can.

then next year, when QB's like Brady Quinn and possibly Brian Brohm, enter the draft, we can pawn our picks and move up to get them. think about it... every year there are QB's who are atop the draft; in reality, Leinart/Young/Cutler aren't any different. next year, the scouts and experts will be saying the same things about Quinn and Brohm. (Reggie Bush is the only player who's a one-in-a-million type player; there won't be any Reggie Bushes next year or for quite some time thereafter).

therefore, i think this year we should stay put and take advantage of our early picks, while waiting on Pennington and Ramsey. If they flop, make the move on QB next year.

    cheers

So over 3000 yards passing was a fluke? Over 3000 yards passing to his first read? I find this hard to believe. His passing numbers are close to Leinarts.

That all maybe true, but Matt had a hell of a lot more great players to work with then Young. Do you agree with that?

In terms of skill positions? sure. But it all starts with the oline.

I may be old school here, but the first thing i look for in a qb is the ability to read a defense and be able to adjust to plays that are going to attack their weaknesses. We all know that leinart has all that and then some. Im more interested in a guy that can step in and will be a little better prepared than young, because he's played in a pro style offense. Im not saying young is a bad player but to say that he's better than leinart is just foolish. He's proven a hell of alot more, and won't be as much of a project. Young is perfect for a team that has a solid vet at QB and can afford to wait a few years. We don't really have that.
