I don't understand why people talk so much about things they know so little about ? I can understand & respect better if someone said....I'll go back & lok at the game & then comment or have an opinion. But not with some of these chaps....lol :breakdance:  Also your math is a tad off. Thats less than 4 yds a carry & Ware had a large chunk of that on that nice run he made. Judge from when Talavou came into the game...
Run n Gun, i usually agree with you and you usually get underserved criticism. but your wet dream about finding a magic NT before the season starts is ridiculous. first of robertson isnt even that bad. second off, someone whos an UDFA isnt the answer to anything. if this guy was a legit 3-4 NT someone wouldve taken a flier on him. instead he was signed by a 4-3 team looking for a situational run clogger.
You need to look at your own history before commenting on others knowledge. You would have had us take Walter Thomas in the 4th round. He did not make it through maybe 1 or 2 practices as an undrafted free agent. If Talavou has all this talent can you tell me how you can see it and not the 32 NFL head coaches and their scouts that chose not to draft him. 18 carries for 74 yards is 4.11 yards per carry. I had my 11 year old daughter check my math.
Isn't he the latest Bengal to get arrested??? I think I read that somewhere. Here it is... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/08/14/bc.fbn.bengals.wilson.ap/
Ur math is right...oops!!!hmy: But if u get a chance to review Jets'/Falcons game....watch this guy. I'm telling u. About the Walter Thomas thing...I never saw him play, he was just talked up alot by people on line. THis Talavou guy ..I just watched him & he's a MONSTA I tell u. Just like Trent Cole of the Eagles a few pre-seasons back. He was a mid-round draft pick & just went nutz on the Jets'. This guy is now a starter .
He was undrafted and played in one preseason game against 3rd and 4th stringers and the Jets need him? First of all he signed a 2 year contract with the Falcons so the only way would be through a trade or if he gets cut. What would you trade for an undrafted free agent who has played in a total of one preseason game? If he gets cut after playing in one preseason game I don't think I would want him. You pick some inconsequential back up player that you have seen play all of a few minutes, or have not seen at all only heard other people talk about online (Thomas), and talk as if he is the best to come along in 20 years and attack others who don't agree with you. One of these days you may be right with your out of left field assessments but until that time you really should hold back on the attacks of those that don't concur with you.
If that's your prerequisite how come everytime someone brings up the fact that D rob continually gets double teamed at NT and that Mangini is very happy w/ him at the position, you shun it and say "We need an NT"?
yeah, but what i wanted to point to is, he was the leading rusher in last years presason. Every year, there are several players, that look great in the preseason and just don?t do anything during regular season. Don?t get hyped on any 3rd string player, who has 1-2 good games in preseason.
I have to say, I don't understand the resistance in this thread. What does it hurt to have a look see? For anyone to make the argument that bc he came in the second half that he is no good is just silly. Nearly all late round picks come in at that point. If he is as dominant against people he is going against, then doesn't it seem reasonable that he has a decent chance to be productive against first stringers? I am open to the idea if he is a good as you say. The trick is to get someone now as oppose to later when they become great and cost a boatload. Good scouting.
Wow...Ignorance is extremely high here & football kowledge is extremely low here. That's why there is so much resistance here. Blind cats always have envy of the seeing... Only about 1 in 15 posters here actually know anything about football. For the rest of em', its a hangout spot.:rofl2:
I just watched this guy and for all the times you tell people to watch film, you need to. He likes to roll outside (seems to think he's a pass rushing DE) and was solely responsible for Ware's big run. So let's review his plays: He was a non-factor in the PA pass, jumped early then stopped a run at the line of scrimmage by falling over and causing a pileup, tries to speed rush the outside shoulder of the left guard and gets shut down. Next possession. Ware's run play that I mentioned before, and he just got pancaked on this next play by the RG. He reset many times and didn't seem comfortable in his pre-snap stance either time. Hey, he just produced one decent pass rush on the defended fly down the left side which was really a blown block because the blocker didn't reset when 69 disengaged before rushing Clemens the second time. Taken out for third down, then blown off the line on a run play by the left guard. Now pancaked by the left guard. All of this against second and third stringers. He doesn't appear double teamed on any play except the second time he's pancaked which is a jab from the center after the play had already moved away. Eight plays, and he accidentally effected one. He turned sideways in the worst pirouette I've ever seen then got knocked down by the guard which started the pile. He's one great run stuffer. Call Canton. This guy should be eligible now. For the open janitor position.
I se why they call u QUACK.....lol. Man....Your t.v. signal must be scrambled. He is playing DT for them & not NT. Do u see the size, power & effect he has on the OL. Just imagine this guy lining up at NT on the Jets' & keeping people off the ILB's (your precious lil Vilma & co.) there will be no running straight up the Jets' gut with Talavou there. Now....If u can't see that, what can I tell u buddy.!!! :breakdance:
I watched his first two drives. Does he suddenly look like Vince Wilfork once the water boys are put on the OL later in the fourth? If he's getting destroyed by NFL rejects in a 1-gap technique, especially when he speed rushes the way the OL wants him to every down run or pass, why do you think he would be our savior as a 2-gapping NT? Talavou got through college on his size and physicality. That won't get him jack at this level and it is blatantly obvious from what I just saw that he does not belong in this league. Maybe for that experiment that Billick and Ryan are running with the DT blitz from the MLB spot but aside from that I just can't see it.
I like ur honesty & I also like the fact that u took the time to watch. Me....I like to study different position each snap. Talavou gets more dominant as the game progress's & as he gets more comfortable. I also realize that he was playing against 3rd & 4th teamers...but this guy would give any player fits with his size & quickness. I also pointed out Jason Peters - TE from Univ. of Arkansas a few years back & he wasn't drafted either. Bills picked him up & have converted him to LT. I believe he's a starter now !!! If u get the time....Watch this guy....he shuts down the middle of the field.
It was interesting for me because I normally just watch LB shifts, OLine keys, the RB and the QB. I'm not really a secondary/wideouts/dline person.
I just watched every one of this guys snaps and I honestly don't understand what you saw. He's garbage and the Falcons will cut him. Tell you what, let's make a sig bet. If he gets cut, I get to pick the text of your sig for a month, if he doesn't, you pick mine. Obviously the text would have to be "legal" per GG rules. What do you say?
