My thoughts on the week ahead: - This has to be a dream matchup in terms of the NFL's desire to pump up the drama. The maverick acolyte going against the jilted master. - During the season, especially after the win at NE, I was looking forward to the possibility of this scenario with mixed emotions. Belichimp is going to pull out all the stops in an effort to flatten, embarrass, and humiliate Mangini and the Jets. I won't be surprised if it turns out ugly for the Jets. - Mangini has proven that he is one of the few that can go toe-to-toe with Belichick on pure coaching ability. But the personnel is simply not there yet. I was pretty dismayed seeing that Jason Fartgas guy from the Raiders getting some good carries on us today.... - I can't wait for Belichump's pressers this week: "Coach, could you please simply state the name of the head coach of the New York Jets?" "Ummmm....ummm....(sigh)....what do you want me to say? I think he's done OK. He'll be on the other side of the field. I had Connie Corleone make him some canolis..."
Heh. Not at all. Belichick is going to want to ruin Mangini in this match. The Jets are going to get everything the Patriots have.
I don't see the Jets being outclassed here. It certainly hasn't happened in 2006, and if Belichick decides to get greedy in this game, he'll pay for it. That's exactly the kind of thing Mangini will be able to counteract because of his experience. Frankly, I don't see the extraordinary talent imbalance you do, except at running back. Obviously Brady is an excellent quarterback, but we've seen Chad play along with him, and better. Bully for us if Dyson's back, too.
Who wants a ride? Find me 2-4 tickets for face value, and you get a free ride both ways + tailgating.... go Jets!!
I certainly hope you're right. My biggest fear is the Jets' run defense. Too many subpar runners have had good days against it. But bring on the Pasties anyway, I know we'll be ready.
This will bring out the best in BB and the Pats, we had better play by far our best game of the year if we want to have a chance.
The only thing that will stay pretty consistent is the temperature. Also, it looks like wind will not be too much of a factor.
Check out boston.craigslist.org Lots of tickets at face value (esp. Standing Room Only). I live in boston. I can tell you that the novelty of the Patriots is wearing thin really fast. Kinda like the Braves winning year after year and soon, their playoff games weren't even selling out. Pats aren't quite there yet, but I'll bet you that there will be a lot more tickets available than you think. Heck, I'm tempted to go to the game without tickets and find some good seats for cheap when supply outpaces demand.
Should be a hellishly long week. Not sure what to make of this game. i feel pretty confident that NE will just run, run, run and take calculated shots down field. I just don't see the Jets scoring many points on Sunday. However, in today's NFL all you need are a few ticky tac pass interference calls and you're in the red zone before you know it. So anythings possible.
