I am kinda; digging the whole "Thunder and Lightning" name as well as concept. No reason that these two cant get it done, but is Tony coming back to help open holes up?

I'm sure it's been said, but this all based on the assumption that Leon Washington will be what he was - as he was peaking. Goddamn it, what a loss for us. Still makes my stomach turn. I hope for the best, but it's certainly not a given. If I broke my leg in two places and returned to regular life, great. He isn't in regular life, and his agent screwed him royally.

I know this isn't quite the same, but a team mate of mine (RB) broke his Tib & Phib and he played the following year, and was as strong and fast as he ever was. Never had any problems whatsoever, and he was in traction for about 2 months.
I've read that broken bones will often heal and be stronger than before, not sure how true that it though.

I rolled my ankle playing tennis and sprained it badly. The DR told me I would have been better off breaking it. The recovery time from that damned ankle injury was about 6 months, but he claimed I would have been back playing tennis again in only a couple of months if I had broken it instead.

how about Caulcrick (sp?)? He was more of a battering ram type RB/FB at Michigan State, wasn't he?

He signed a future contract with the 49ers in January.

Without question, this team needs another quick back. Washington is not going to be what he was and Greene often gets hurt and fumbles. I think it's worth drafting a HB. Having 3 backs isn't always necessary, but when you can't rely on your current 2 you have to keep your options open.

And you can't expect Leon to split the carries up the middle and last all year with Greene. Hopefully Chauncey Washington can produce though, cause that'd make things ten times easier.

Brad Smith is going to get a lot more action too-

With LW back the Seminole will be a nightmare.

    I'd like Bell here.

I'd like to have a TC battle for the #3 back between C. Washington and some other guys... maybe we can find a hidden gem somwhere... after all this is the OL anyone would like to run behind.

Mr E what do you think of Miller kid from Fresno? I don't think he'll get drafted and I think he showed some potential at the combine.

I'm fairly confident we can put anyone with average skill in the backfield and turn them into a 1000 yd rusher with this OL. It's kind of like the Broncos a few years back. Anyone they plugged in there (at one point didn't they go through 6 starting RBs?) was able to break off 100 yd games.

His fumble ratio dropped big time in the latter parts of the season. One year with a couple injuries doesn't make you injury prone. Wait till this season to label him that.

His running style is reminiscent of Marion Barber. He looks for contact which is going to leave him open to some big hits. Injury prone may be a stretch after only one season in the pros but I think it is safe to say that it is a concern.

I agree completely as far as the fumbling goes. The one against Miami was purely a product of a rookie RB trying to run through a stronger NFL DLineman. Some of those are going to be easily corrected simply by him being able to recognize where he is and who he is up against in a game.

You hit the nail on the head. This is why we let go of Thomas Jones. This is why we should trade Shonn Greene while his stock his high and get Cromartie or another talent. Running backs grow on trees and with the Jets line they also will flourish.
