I agree with us giving away our 1st rounder for Dallas 2nd round, Austin and a fourth (I don't think they'd give us 2 of them but you never know...) the problem is: Is it something realistic or is it just some fan's fantasy? I think if they want tod do something like this we'll only know come draft day...
Wow...What, was Austin the MVP or something? Now we have a different caliber level for Austin? 13 catches man, 13 catches. I don't give a shit who was on the roster but 13 catches do not prove any potential. It may just say he wasn't good enough to beat out 3 other WRs on the roster including Crayton. There wouldn't be a WR = to Austin at 52? Why is that? Again, did he have a break out season or something? N who told u the Jets will "obviously" not draft a WR in the round 1? Is there not a need of a WR on our roster? Can people start backing up their BS comments about Austin being a PROVEN WR in the NFL with some sort of stats besides him being burried in the depth chart? Even with that argument its obvious why he was burried. Clowney played in 2 snaps in 09 I believe. He had one catch for 26 yds. Thats a nice ratio. He was burried in the depth chart. We should try n trade him for a first n a third. Wait, not gonna happen.
I really feel if MT wanted a simple play for Miles and give up a 2nd he would have a proposal on the table - why wait? - what does he have to gain unless... he is negotiating with the Cowboys. I'm speculating that Dallas is willing to give up Miles for a price and that the Jets want more picks - other than NE, Dallas has plenty of them.
There are 17 pages on this?? Are you kidding me? I'm not even going to bother going through all 17, but can everyone in support of giving up a 2nd for Miles Austin please be banned at least for a day for a sanity check?? MILES AUSTIN???????? Just step away from the keyboard and no one will get hurt.
Welcome! I have 23 posts in this thread already explaining the same thing with many more "proven" points but all those in favor keep telling me Miles Austin is a proven WR in the NFL.
The only thing that you've proven is that those who are fans of two teams aren't REAL fans... Oh, and that Terrell Owens, Roy Williams, and Jason Witten are better than Miles Austin. It's not obvious at all...
I've had time to think about this For perhaps a 3rd rounder-4th rounder i'd do it. But not for a 2nd. He is unproven despite what the ppl for him say. 13 catches doesn't really prove anything.
I agree w/ the article's take although they are wrong about not taking a WR in the first 2 rounds since 96. Santana Moss was taking in the first round in 02.
I think the question is: Is it safer/better to have a player who excelled against crapy competition in college and trained for 3 years with the Cowboys or a player who played against top/mid-high competition in college, had an ok production and has good measurables (because that's what you are getting with a low 2nd round)? If some talent is there (and No one in this forum can evaluate it since we've only seen 18 catches at most) I think I'd be ok with the first scenario. Not saying I would do this 100% but i would giv it a thought...
U sure are the one complaining about it. I live in Dallas and so I support Cowboys but not at the expense of the Jets. If I was a bandwagoner, I would be rooting for this move just cuz its a no brainer for the Cowboys. Like I said, grow up!
My fiance is a fan of: Barack Obama Derek Jeter (loves the Yankees) and, Miles Austin (big Cowboys fan) Anyone see a pattern here?
The reason people like myself are in favor of Austin is because if a player with his talent was in this draft I would take him in the 2nd round. Wide receiver is a glarding need and Austin is the type of receiver who would compliment Cotchery well.
