That's Bowles' buddy or more importantly the punching bag for when things go wrong on defense

I don't understand why he was out of football for 4 years. Odd. Hope he can help Hackenberg and Petty though. Plus whichever other QB's are in the fold.

    Cimini:
In case you're wondering what Bates did during his time away from football, he spent five months of it hiking the Continental Divide Trail. In 2014, he made the 2,900-mile trek, from Mexico to Canada, by himself.

That could prepare him for the job with the Jets, because it'll be a long road with a lot of bumps.

That sounds like something I would have liked to do if I couldn't get hired in my chosen field because I wasn't good enough at my job. What's the celebration about?

Apparently they couldn't lure Matt Cavanaugh back, how unfortunate.

Maybe he had a premonition that he was going to get the Jets' QB Coach job, knew it would be a long uphill climb, and thought doing the trip in reverse would be the best way to prepare. ;)
