None of our backs is quite as promising as Chris Brown. They all MIGHT be something, but Chris Brown rushed for 1000 yards in 11 games a few years ago, and is still young. The Jets don't have a guy that can pound it like him. -X-
Martin appears to be done, and with only Houston / Blaylock behind him, the Jets are now desperate to find a legit starting RB to fill the hole. C. Brown would be a decent option, but he's going to cost you a lot more than he's worth in my opinion. {Most likely a 2007 2nd round pick}..... All the best to Curtis Martin in his retirement. He was one of the classiest Jets players ever in my opinion....
Chris Brown has more potential then blaylock and houston combined, he was leading the league in rushing during the beginning of the 2004 season, what the hell have blaylock and houston done?
houston really hasn't even gotten a chance to show anything. blaylock i agree with you, he only performed behind that chiefs line where everyone seems to perform. But brown, had a major drop off from 2004. In 2005, he played 4 more game snad rushed for 200 less yards. potential i think is a very difficult thing to measure. guys can have a lot of potential but never do anything...
theres plenty of reasons to not want him, lets just go with the fact the guy doesnt want to compete with the other players on his roster. chris brown isnt that good, hes more proven than what we have but theres a reason he wants out, cause hes not a part of their future plans.
What kind of stupid shit...ugggh. Bad example. The patriots were just unreal. Not to mention they had(have) tom brady. And antoine and faulk could be better than what we have.
I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT! they could be but its not like we have some schlubs at RB. how about we actually wait the preseason out? and im not trying to pick on you im addressing the general attitude of the board after the chris brown rumors.
The Patriots won the Super Bowl with Antowain Smith and Kevin Faulk, and then they went out and got Corey Dillon. Cedric Houston did not set the league on fire, and the Jets wouldn't be calling anyone if they thought Blaylock could get the job done. Brown has more talent and achievement than any one we have, and he's still relatively young. I'd give up a 3 or 4 for him without a doubt. -X-
But atleast at that time they were proven. I doubt any of the RB's we have are as good as faulk, but we have yet to see any of them. That much is true. And BTW, anyone but a jet fan would think we have a bunch of schlubs at RB. Not that i give a shit what others think. But it's kind of hard to compare our RB's to the pats because we've seen them so much and we know what they were capable of. Truth is, we're in need of a proven vet
Why would the Jets give up a second rounder for a guy that cant beat out a nice journeyman running back..and a running back that hasnt missed dinner over the last year. If Brown was the missing piece to a solid playoff/superbowl run...then maybe. If EM/MT are going in to this season to lay the foundation for years to come..making sure they have 4 potentially good running backs instead of 3 isnt worth a second rounder...especially in a rebuilding year.
BTW, i never said i would give up a second rounder for chris brown. I think he can be had for less. And if not, pass on him.
wait the preseason out? then what? get a new RB for the season that has never run plays with our offense and missed our whole training camp?
thats true, but only reason for us to do that this yr with 4 RBs under cap is if we were making a playoff run. least thats my logic, i say spend this yr so our 3 young RB's can show what they have. confirm our fears at least before we sign yet another RB who wasnt good enough to be the singleback on his last team.
If we want to win games, IMO, the longest we can wait is 2-3 preseason games. If our guys don't appear to be ready try to make a move. But do not over pay.
thats fine, but its slim pickings for now. IMO, I'd rather us just draft a RB next yr. till then see what we have in Houston/Blaylock/Washington but i definitely understand your view, ink a more proven RB as an insurance policy. either way i think we can both agree someone needs to step up or step out.
