It looks pretty bad......I agree. However - if the Jets get several picks ( at least one high and one semi-high ) AND JD hits on these picks at positions of real need ( OL, EDGE, CB, etc ) then it is the correct move. Sadly, a team has to give up value to get value.
This is the answer. We have too many holes for Jamal to solve. This is what happens when you miss on draft picks before and after him (Jachai Polite, Darron Lee, Nathan Shephed, etc.) We need to re-so this...and get these picks right. We need starters.
Wouldn't that be just LIKE the Jets? Trying to make a trade and it fails because the fax machine was broken. LOL
Even if he hits on both picks and they become good players, they still won't have Jamal's heart, soul and leadership. He makes SS more of an impact position. He and Darnold are the faces of the Jets. Have you seen Darnold trying to recruit FAs to come here? No Only Adams.
I would be ok with it, I get what Douglas is trying to do. Mac needs to sit back and watch the show Douglas is going to put on with this team. The offensive side of the ball is going to be stout when Douglas takes care of business!!!!
The Jets finally hit paydirt in the first round with Adams and Darnold (in my eyes, anyway, although some seem to disagree about Darnold these days), and they're ready to trade Adams away already? As a 30+ year fan, all I can assume is that the Jets want more Coples/Milliner/Pryor/Wilson/Gholston/Robertson/Thomas/Vick type 1st round picks. Drafting these actual football players is ruining their rep.
I know......it sucks really. The franchise is stuck between a rock and a hard place here. That Mac was a horrible overseer of the draft - and it's really hitting home now. They wouldn't be in this position if he knew how to run a draft.
I don't see the Packers giving us what we want in the way of picks. May be Dallas. I think highly of Adams and IMO you CAN use him as the center piece to build a team around, but we have so many holes and so few draft picks that a move might be proper for us. I also noticed that way too many people here assume we will screw up the draft based on history. I disagree. I give JD much more credit than that. He will at least balance BPA based on area of need and schemes the coaches prefer. It is time we accept the fact that Mac was an unmitigated disaster, his vision or lack thereof has hurt this team much more than any of us forecasted. Hard to believe he would be even worst than his predecessor. I believe the biggest impediment and challenge for JD is how to deal with Gase and the dreadful ownership that pays his salary.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Gase and his boy Joe are going to rebuild this team in their image and it's going to take the better part of a decade to fix it after they're gone. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I don’t want him traded for peanuts or an injured player like Macagnan would have done. It’s obvious that teams think enough of Adams as a difference maker for them to even be talking to Jets about a trade. Whoever is talking to Jets about Adams knows the price and it’s obvious they are willing to pay.
Even if I agree with this Adams clearly isn't gonna last here much longer he's sick of losing and I can see him becoming a problem...so might as well trade him now at peak value.[/QUOTE]
