Bad GM’s and bad coaches… we went through Bowles, who couldn’t even post a winning record in the shittiest division in football with Tom Brady as his QB…if that doesn’t scream “he sucks” I don’t know what would…then Gase which needs no words…just awful. The GM chair has been just as bad. Not rocket science…you put morons in charge at GM and HC and you get shit results
We got here because of three people - Rex Ryan and Mike Tanny. Their vision for the team went south after 2009 and they made a list of bad moves that borrowed against our future for no return. The third is JD, who fell in love with Wilson, and used the best draft/cap situation we'd ever seen to take 3 years building 7-10 team.
Dumb is not the word, but it's not dumb to have an interest bearing play thing in the first place, I guess. The Maras got him to cheap out on a roof on The New Dump and the best part was when he freaked out about the secret coin toss. You got in bed with the Maras, you dolt, and and the 2nd class citizenship continues. https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/...ger-goodell-secret-coin-toss-article-1.174856 Man, I wish I never chucked all of that literature from the Jets front office shilling for PSLs, absolute gold that I really regret discarding now. It was loaded with bald-faced lies like, "We finally have our own home!" Yeah, OK, 10 feet away from The Old Dump, the same shit but worse. He was always a jackass and he still is. I remember being invited to an "exclusive auction" for opening day of PSL bidding and then the stock market tanked horribly. It was a dud, and some people widely overpaid and then demanded their money back. I laughed like hell when he got clipped by a car riding his bicycle in FL years back. I would have paid good money to see that. https://gothamist.com/news/would-a-bike-lane-have-prevented-woody-johnsons-accident EDIT: Dead link, had to find another.
I think he is too. genetics would say so: Woody comes from a lineage of dumb trophy wives mating with rich guys. educational background would say so too: Woody was always in a protected bubble. I'm sure he went to private school growing up and which teacher is honestly gonna fail the Johnson & Johnson heir? He's had no real work experience so he didn't have to learn anything on the fly.
Clearly not the sharpest tool but he and the Mara's did scam the PSL holders to essentially pay for the trash can with louvers stadium so who's dumber them or us for paying for this shit hole of a stadium?
The thing that is really annoying is that we keep doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. I was out at lunch with an old friend a couple of months ago and he whipped out a small travel chess set and set it up as we were waiting for our orders to show up. We used to do this all the time over lunch at a Korean BBQ joint on 32nd St in the 1980's. So 10 moves in I look at him and realize he just fell for the same trap I set over and over for him 40 years ago. I was like "you haven't figured this out yet?" and he just shrugged. Old dogs, same tricks, same results. All it takes to break the pattern is to do something right just once. But here we are in Favre-2.0 which will be followed by Sanchez-2.0 no doubt and somehow things are supposed to wind up differently in the end?
