All the media stuff (mostly PFT) make it sound like he's going to fail the physical wherever he goes. If he's really got the congenital defect in his neck and it was spotted after a neck injury the odds are pretty good he's not going to find a job when those x-rays are laid out in front of the team doctor. Can you imagine the lawsuit his family would have against the physician who bucked the consensus and said he was good to play?
i didn't see any dig. i thought it was a very straight forward fact filled article and headline. didn't read the post's. didn't need to after the headline
Was just reading that he retired after only talking to the Ravens team doctor, after people telling him he should get another opinion he then spoke to multiple other doctors and every doctor except one told him he was not at a greater risk for injury. Looks like many he acted rashly after the initial diagnosis and jumped the gun on retiring. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/06/30/zach-orr-changes-story-regarding-second-opinion/
I consider " Davis, who spent the first four years of his career with the Jets before joining the Browns last season, finished 2016 with a PFF grade of 58.4, which ranked 59th among linebackers. In 2015, his final year with the Jets, he had a grade of 42.9." a dig. Not necessary in the story but Hughes always has to throw something negative into anything Jets related. We could win the fucking Superbowl and he would find a negative to throw into the story.
I've never seen any real dig in anything he's written. Even the hitting the reporters thing with Hack was totally blown out of proportion and taken out of context. Hughes is pretty good overall.
Is that a dig? It's just factual as far as I'm concerned. Say what you like about PFF's grades, but all he's done is report DD's grades for the last 2 years. I'm not even sure it's a negative about the Jets. Davis sucked in his last year with the Jets, we released him and he seemed to rebound a bit with the Browns.
He is the guy who started the Hack hit 6 reporters with passes during OTAs. Manish and Cimini copy and pasted right from his blog. Turns out it was all untrue.
It's a dig, it wasn't necessary to the article. Just his way of throwing shit into the air. Could have reported on Zach Orr and left it at that.
Agreed, he's the best beat writer right now. He talks about all of the players and gives good updates. He even posts on the Jets reddit and has gotten into some debates. Which means he'll sell out soon.
he tweeted that hack hit a reporter, it was then retweeted every day till it looked like it was happening again and again. no offense but i think you are being a bit oversensitive on this one. the guy has been pretty balanced on his reporting.
He actually posted Hack hit 2 reporters on his video blog each of the 3 Tuesdays that media was allowed to attend OTAs. That led to the reports of Hack hitting 6 reporters with passes. Of course Cimini and Manish ran with it. Cimini finally admitted he was one of the reporters that Hughes reported was hit, but that he went out of his way to knock down a ball that bounced near him when a receiver fell making a cut along the sideline. Hughes let the story run, never corrected it and wrote it to appear that Hack was missing wildly on his passes. I still stand by my opinion that he could have reported on Orr without throwing shade at Davis. There's no guarantee Orr signs here or passes his physcial. No need to throw Davis under the bus. Jets fans know enough about Davis .
What you're missing is not everyone who reads a piece about Zach Orr is familiar with Davis or even knows who Orr might be replacing. They also may not have any idea of what Davis has done in the position. There's absolutely nothing wrong with putting this information out there for the general public. Davis, his immediate family and others with thin skins may not like it but it is a legitimate, even necessary part of the story.
Try reading both articles. You will find the post is straight forward, to the point. Hughes is the one trying to keeping the circus going. It's his way of trying to become relevant.
I don't agree that it's relevant or necessary. Every other team linked to Orr is at best thin at the ILB position. None of the beat writers for any of those teams felt it necessary to take unnecessary shots at the players on the roster, nor did Paul Schwartz who wrote the NY Post article. the editors of the post of course put a sensationalized headline as they always do. (The post is the originator of click bait going back to before computers were even in use by the general public) I have no love for Davis. We know what he brings to the table and I would love to see the position upgraded but as a fan of the Jets, I really hate the beat writers that constantly bash the team . As of now Davis is our starting ILB and as a Jet fan, I'll root for him to succeed and hope he improves. Same as I will for any player on the roster. I chose not to dwell on the negativity. I believe that was what FJF was pointing to in his post that I replied to. Hughes may be less of a Douche by comparison to some others such as Manish and Cimini. But he's still a Douche.
