someone tell me where these 2nd and 3rd round picks came into play, ATL nor NYJ has sed anything about 2nd and 3rd rounders
this is what has happend so far. there has been no 2nd or 3rd round picks involved...well i dont know aobut what rumors went out, but this is no rumor
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that ATL was offereing both their 2nd and 3rd rounders, sorry not sure where. If only their 2nd is on the table, a deal will NEVER get done. I wouldn't even accept their 2nd and 3rd rd picks, for reasons described very eloquently by Jabba in another thread. A few days ago I posted this, with little fanfare. ATL sends 06 2nd + 06 3rd + 07 2nd NYJ sends Abraham + 06 4th(Herm Pick) ATL keeps their 1st rounder and Schaub, AND we get good value, IMO. I think that this is another type of deal that I would do. We would have a ton of options on day 1 of the draft this year, including moving up from their 2nd rounder with their 3rd round pick. Their 2nd round pick (47 overall) plus our 3rd round pick should be able to move us up to pick #27-28 in the draft. We'd have #4, #28, #35, and ATL's 3rd rounder. We'd ALSO have a 2nd round pick in next year's draft. From ATL's perspective, they trade 2nd rd picks this year and next year, and drop from a round with their 3rd rd pick to our 4th round pick. They may still think that is too much to give up though, but I think is a viable option.
I would still love Abe here, but it's time to accept that he won't play another game in Jets green. That said, you guys are all correct. He is ours right now, and there is no reason to cave to Atlanta. I believe our staff knows the cards they hold. It became more obvious yesterday with the Seattle deal. That is the move to force Atlanta's hand, and let them know we know we have the full house. In reality though, unless they give us their 1 this year, we should demand their 2 this year and next. Otherwise, I would stand pat until he works something out with Seattle. JabbaTheJet made a great post last night about how much better Seattle's first rounder would be this year than anything Atlanta has offered so far. At the very least, I would take a third rounder this year, and their first next year. In that case, we hold two first rounders going into next year's draft, and we can trade up to get Quinn (unless we suck it up so badly we don't need to, but the extra 1 never hurts.)
so was this you making a good deal, or did you read this somewhere, because i have heard a ton of good deals being "thought up" that will not happen.
Well that one I did make up. It's not a revolutionary idea or anything, so someone else may have thought of it too. I just think that it is a fair deal that I would do that satisfies what I've heard so far are ATL's requirements for a trade: no Schaub and no #15 overall. I don't think it is that hard to find a deal that I'd like that offers us value BETWEEN #15 overall and #31 overall. I wanted to make a point of that by posting two suggestions. I have faith that our FO will wait it out until they get the best they can.
ok, thats fair enough i guess. and ya thats true about atlanta, thats why we need to forget them and make it look like they arent getting him. becuz if they want him bad enough, they'll make the deal we want, or we'll atleast get schaub or the 1st rounder
No way! That is a total fleecing. JAbe is worth at least one first rounder. We were talking about getting a fourth rounder in addition to getting Schaub just yesterday. We're talking an established Pro-Bowl elite pass-rushing DE. He has garnered attention all over the league, and had his demands been more reasonable, Tanny's secretary would be playing gatekeeper at this point, and he would have 20 pounds of fax paper on his desk with offers. The longer he stands his ground, the lower Abe will have to drop his demands. As soon as he does, the phone will be ringing off the hook. I love what the FO is doing right now. Had this been Bradway, Abe would be a Falcon along with our 2nd round pick this year, for their 6th rounder this year, and up to a 4th next year based on performance.
Thats just it! The perception around the NFL is that there is no way we can keep Abe. So, it looks like we don't have alot of leverage. Are we willing to keep Abe on the team?
Here's the problem, Patterson. If the Hawks back out of their offer b/c of financial contraints or if they sign Julian Peterson, where's the leverage. I just don't think Atlanta will give up the 15th overall for Abraham, a good but not great often injured DE. Jets will get a 2 and maybe something next year for Abe.
i sed this acouple days ago, and ya he'll lower i agree, but right now our best offer is seatle, and we are in the drivers seat so we're set. we have the upper hand on everyone
i know i'm double posting but we have a #1 pick set with seatle, why are u arguing with me that this isnt the best deal. ATL IS NOT going to trade theyre 1st rounder or schaub to us, yet. unless they see we arent interested in their deal and we turn towrads seatle, they might give in to us if they want abe bad enough...
Forgot about the draft chart or any of that. The baseline for any negotiations with Atlanta is two FIRST round draft picks. So they have a contract agreed upon with Abe. Go ahead and sign it. He is a franchised player and the compensation package requires two FIRST round draft picks. If the Jets WANT to agree to a lower price, they can at their discretion. But Atlanta has to understand they can't get him for a 2nd round pick this year when Seattle has offered a first rounder. This is all posturing by Atlanta. They will end up giving up their 2nd round pick this year and a first round pick next year.
sry, i get cranky easily...i do see the upside of the 2nd roudner but we have time to decide on what we actually do, people are acting like if this deosnt get done we have no more options or time to do anything, but we do. and with that, i'm out
Looks like the Seattle trade is going to happen and that would make me happy. Then, I think, we're looking at either D'brick or Hawk at #4.
D brick or mario.... hawk has never been mentioned with the jets yet. at #4 i think it safe to say. D brick, cutler, mario, leinart, young one of these guys will be jets . also assuming we dont trade down.
