All true. And beside the point. He's a central figure in those wins. And he's famous for it.

He's famous b/c of his Dad and his brother more than anything else. he's a solid QB who has had a productive career, he shouldn't even be in the discussion for the Hall.

Agree to disagree. I'm not saying he's a once in a generation talent. He is the guy that quarterbacked his team in the Super Bowl to two last-minute, game-winning drives to beat the most hated franchise in modern pro football. That'll get him there even without the fantasy numbers. Although, I don't think his are as bad as you do.

he needed a football sticking to a helmet and a disputed catch to do so. Eli is a good QB, there is a HUGE difference btw good and HOFer.

Namath is in the HOF with more career INT's than TD's. He also didn't throw a TD in SB3 and got the MVP.

    So ...

You are right. That win over the 18-0 Patriots is going to help matters in voting as well. Very significant, historical win that will resonate with HOF voters, on top of the rest of his resume, when the time comes

Eli is not a HOF QB....at least not at this stage.

He doesn't have the numbers nor the consistency necessary to make it.
there's only so many QB's the HOF should take, and there's already a logjam of way better candidates.

so let me ask a question that I think I know what you will answer.

You were adamantly against Strahan's hall of fame nomination if I remember correctly and you won't entertain the idea that Eli Manning is a HOFer either. Does this mean you don't think the Giants deserve 1 HOF spot off of those SB teams? Is it possible you are letting your anti-Giants bias cloud your judgment?

But he's been good and successful for one of the oldest and highest profile franchises in the sport. I mean, maybe if he played for the Falcons I'd understand discounting his achievements, but not the NY Giants.

Again, Hall of Fame. Not Hall of Some Random Fan's Arbitrary Measure of Worthiness. That doesn't mean there aren't better quarterbacks out there.

Namath was a key figure off the field and made the Hall as much for that as anything else. SB III is also probably the most significant game in pro football history and Namath was a key figure in that win.

is it possible? absolutely it is possible though I do think I can put that aside maybe I can't? I do think Christian Laettner is the best CBB player I have ever seen and Lawrence Taylor the best defensive player I have ever seen so I think I can separate my hatred of the team.

I knew Strahan would make it b/c of the sham sack record, the compiled #s and his TV gigs. Eli doesn't have any of that. He has a huge leg up w/ 2 SB MVPs but he needs to put up some Hall worthy full seasons and he will have a chance w/ Beckham in his prime.

The Hall has been watered down enough through the years w/ players unworthy making it. It would be a huge joke if Eli made it based on his career to this point.

That I guess is the point I was making.

Stats don't necessarily make or break you when it comes to the HOF. It's more about stepping up in the right time and not letting your team down at the wrong time.

I don't even care about the HOF or if the Jets have a franchise QB. I want to see a competent QB give us a chance of getting to the SB.

id rather be a top 16 team WITH qbs taken into account.

QB is by far the most important position. you WONT win a superbowl without probowl talent there unless you have an alltime great team around him. which we have nowhere close to that

you will NEVER win a superbowl with an awful qb(i.e. geno, sanchez)

    "very good for years"

on what planet? the last decade:

    6-10
    7-9
    7-8-1
    2-14
    7-9
    1-15
    2-14
    3-13
    8-8
    6-10

ZERO winning seasons, NINE losing seasons including the second worst season of all time record wise (1-15) and a pair of 2 win seasons. On what planet is that even decent, let alone good or "very good"

Getting a Franchise QB isnt easy.

There wasnt one opportunity to get one this offseason, unless Petty is that guy.

I'm happy to see that Macagagnan is doing all he can to load the team with talent since he wasnt able to get the QB.

we arent in the same boat as the other 25 teams.. we dont even have an average QB, we have a bottom 3 qb. we have ZERO shot at a superbowl

    That would also be nice.

Not sure there was one available. Maybe Foles? Maybe Mettenberger?

He's famous because of his dad and brother? I would think having 2 superbowl wins to their 1 between them would be enough

Eli will be the worst QB ever to make the hall of fame. That's cause he has 2 rings, 2 SBMVPs, pulled off the biggest upset in NFL history. I think he gets in, he doesn't deserve it but he will get in. Won't be a first ballot HOFer though.
