Because John Elway doesn't play QB for the Jets.

I wonder if he was hired if there was any chance that Rob would come here and join him as DC.

Maybe a better choice would be Mike Nolan.....

I admit that Rob has been a disappointment for the past 2 seasons but I'm still curious to see what he can do when he's given the chance to run the 3-4 which he's more familiar with and given the players that would fit that scheme. That being said, Al Davis fired the last coach that wanted to get rid of Ryan so I doubt he gives the Jets permission to offer him the job even if Rex does get hired as HC here.

Why not, he's done it before.

Like I said in my previous post. If Ryan comes here, than so does Lewis. You can quote me on that. Can you imagine a lineup of Lewis, Harris, Pace and dare I say it, an improved Vernon Gholston? Yikes! I don't mind Ryan coming here, especially since he was snubbed by Miami last year. I'd love for him to stick it to them twice next year!

I'd rather see him bring Terrell Suggs over and give Gholston someone he can actually learn from. Plus, I think it would be funny to see the media compete over whether Suggs or Harris should be referred to as the Jets' "Hitman".

Rob Ryan, like jsut about everyone else in that madhose of a team, will do much better once he leaves Oakland. I would not love it, but it would not completly suck like Sutton.

I like Ryan. I would love to see him at HC and Nolan at DC.

It's not that I think he'll be a great HC, but I really think he, Nolan, and Schott would be just a sick coaching staff...

Take Shotty off that list and I'd be a pretty happy camper. I really don't have faith in this guy after some of the games he's called this season. My dream team would be...

Rex Ryan (HC), Romeo Crennel (DC), and Mike Shannahan (OC).

I realize there is no way Shannahan takes a lesser role for the Jets to be our OC. But a man can dream, right?

Pats fans didn't have faith in McDaniels until last year.

IMO, this board is way too scared of taking risks. If the Jets acted as scared of failure as their fans...and they do...well we'd be exactly where we are now.

We need Asomougha to pair up with Revis on the outside. He would be the ultimate coup.

Sadly, with nobody to rush the passer except Vernon Ghostman, our pass D probably still gets lit up like a Christmas tree.

Asomougha would be a waste of Cap Space. What we really need is a solid D-Line that can consistantly put pressure on the quarterback, keyword being "Consistantly". A good CB, really any CB is useless if you don't have a D-Line that can consistantly put pressure on the quarterback, forcing him into bad throws. Alot of turnovers occur, because the quarterback is forced into a bad decision, or a reciever runs a wrong wrote. There are very very few times where turnovers actually occur because a cornerback makes an outstanding play. We really need to develope Lowery into a solid CB, who gives decent coverage and we'll be fine. Turnovers begin at the line of scrimmage.

Isn't anyone here at least a little bit worried that this guy could turn out to be the next Marvin Lewis?

I know it's premature, but if the Jets got Ryan, and then some how got Ray Lewis, that'd be a nasty LB core. Can you imagine Pace, Gholston, Lewis and Harris in Ryan's crazy blitz packages.....insanity.

You mean the same Marvin Lewis that lead the Bengals to an 11-5 record, a Division Title and their first Playoff run in what, 20 years? I think Lewis really got a bad wrap, coming into a shitty team that was setup by LeBeau. He turned the team around a little bit. I mean, he didn't have a great Overall Record, but he did lead them to .500 in his first two seasons, which is much better then the year before that, and then there's the forementioned Division Title. I don't know really, I think Ryan is more solid than Lewis was. He's also had experience as an Assistant HC this year under Harbough. I have faith.

That would be an awesome coaching staff, but I think If Rex is HC he might bring his brother in as DC.

Shannahan will be highly saught after as a HC if he doesn't deside to take a year off.

Rob must want out of Oakland, especially since he was skipped over for HC there again. With all the HCs Al has hired he never gave Rob a real sniff.
