LOL, let me rephrase - top guy Glenn could get. Cimini just reported on his podcast Glenn really wanted Reich.

yeah but why in the hell wasn't Mougey there?

you have a weeklong showcase of the draftable NFL prospects and he doesn't bother to attend?

I thought last offseason was tame, especially for Jets standards. I guess the way Rodgers was informed his services were no longer needed caused a little noise, but that was overall benign.

Didn't matter. Awful season nonetheless :(

According to Will Parkinson, he was supposed to come in, but had some interviews scheduled and because his flight got weather delayed ended up staying and taking these via zoom. The Jets had a lot of people attend though, including his assistant Paton.

That is really disappointing. Big missed opportunity. I'd rather the general manager attend the Senior Bowl week and Shrine Bowl over the scouting combine

In my opinion, the scouting combine has become the biggest and most useless of the NFL events of all. IMO, they should eliminate the workout aspect of it, completely, and do the medical/interview ONLY. So sick of kids going to this thing, lighting up the numbers, getting drafted and then shitting up their time in the NFL. If it didn't happen on the fucking field, while in college, it "ain't" happenin' in the NFL either.

For the guys that really follow this bullshit, name me one player that completely shit the bed in their college career, went to the combine, blew the roof off the place and then landed in the NFL to have a stellar long career?

Yeah I get really nervous when players shoot up the board a month or two after the college season ended…REALLY nervous.

If a guy wasn’t that highly rated fresh off the season when the games were still fresh in our minds, then I don’t think they should climb the boards too much because they measure out with great numbers…if they were all that, they would have balled out in college.

I'm with ya 100% on the combine, even the pro days seem like a waste of time. To answer your question though I think Jaime Collins applies. He didn't shit the bed in college but he wasn't seen as extraordinary, a mid-round prospect out of Southern Miss, he kicked ass at the combine and got himself drafted in Round 2. Then he had a nice productive 10 year NFL career.

I think what separates the Senior Bowl, and why Engstrand shoulda been there, from combine and pro days is that its real football. They practice all week and play a game. It's not just some dudes working out. The practices are intense because they know there's money to be made if you look good so every guy is laying all out there.

Knowing what I know of your knowledge, I'm not surprised you were able to find a guy. But, to your point, he was, at the very least, a good college football player. He had a good combine, which BACKED UP his good college playing and he got drafted. Guys like that, worst case, don't get drafted yet find themselves in UDFA status which, often times, is even better because you can pick and choose where you try to land a spot. Either way, it's such a rare occurrence that it approaches "unicorn" status. ;)

One more thing on Tanner to MILF comparisons, it took MILF two seconds after getting let go here to get a job as OC for a very good team. Tanner was demoted a while back, and there were actually a lot of OC openings available (and some still are), he was not interviewed for any OC spot and ended up taking a smaller role for the only team that may have the worse situation than ours. And I didn't think he deserved to be fired and would have kept him, I just think this is not so clear cut and not the same as MILF situation.
