Didn't Broncos fans pay for a billboard to advocate giving Tebow the starting job?

    Ugh.

    how so
he has set this team up for failure this year and people are willing to wait for it to right itself? I am not saying you fix everything but you needed another wide receiver and they should have brought one in and still have 15 million left over.
I am not complaining about Howard that was smart replacing him with a similar player but cheaper
Slauson is another story they could have kept him
Sanchez the inept morons ran him out of town and now see why would could have at least kept him for the same price as Vick....
let two corners walk out on him in both cromarties one he had in the building and let him go to the giants and the other he let walk.... made a bad situation worse by not drafting well 12 picks 7 are not on the team and 5 have been cut from this yr
I am not blaming him for injuries but for the lack of adequate back ups when the opportunity was there he could have fixed this and still have 15 million in the bank for next yr
That isa why he needs to be fired.
Can you tell me why he needs to stay?
Screw the billboard I emailed the Jets and tweeted it out the world the gm f'ed the fans and sabotaged the team for failure this yr.

i did a thread a few days about all the missed picks the great GM Ozzie Newsome has had and the dumb decisions John Schneider has. If you have 12 picks you're lucky to come away with 3 impact players. two of his draft picks have been injured so we aren't sure if they will be impact players or not. also it takes 3 years to usually judge a draft class. i think people forget that rookies are coming into a completely new league. people are expecting stars right away, but that happens 10% of the time if that. perfect example is Robert Quinn (i could literally name thousands more, but i'm sure you get the point)

concerning the cap space, Idzik has the right idea. DRC hasn't been good this year and now the giants are locked in with him. i'm sick and tired of people talking about us not signing Emmanuel Sanders. He was a 600-700 yard receiver with the Steelers, he's just doing fantastic with the Broncos because he was Peyton fucking Manning throwing him the ball and defenses keying in on other players. Decker has been a great edition. Also the past is always 20/20, it's so easy to hate on Idzik now for not fixing the CB position, but going into the season with Dee Milliner, Dmitri Patterson (who had 4 INTs last season), Darrin Walls, Dex McDougle, and others isn't bad

Where Idzik has let me down is the offensive line. I'm not sure what we have in Oday Aboushi and Brian Winters yet, but we will see. I would of liked to see improvement there.

Holy shit this is idiotic. I wish I could be a fan of another team just so I don't have to associate with this retarded fan base.

I didn't say it did, but you're a Jets fan, aren't you? And if his incompetence is causing the team to play badly and degrade your entertainment experience it affects you.

What about my questions? I wasn't being a smartass, just was curious and wanted to understand why you think that way. I don't understand that way of thinking.

They have raised $50 of the $20,000 so far. I have a question though, what is the guy going to do with the left over $16,000 if he does get a billboard for 2 months. Wouldn't think he needs the billboard past January and it would cost $1500-$2000 a month max for the billboard.

    Still don't see Geno007's $100 up there.

I saw that and posted the same thing same points there. That the gm let the team the coach and the fans down you may be happy with cutting 7 of 12 draft picks this yr by any means of judgment that is poor add in last yrs and the free agency he has had 2 full yrs to address the needs of this team and has only found 4 starters. Compare that to any team in the league and that number is sub par. I am not talking about impact player just about players that can line up and play somewhere on game day. It is hard when you can't draft and won't sign players. This is not just about impact players but players in general those picks were wasted never to be retrieved back again. You don't hity on everypick but a draft success rate of less then 50% in the first yr is horrid.

I am not against saving money for next yr but when you have a qb you need dependable receivers at the start of the year. He did not address that either. As receivers Saunders, Austin, Tate any of those players would have helped because it was a crap load better then running out nelson, salas, or any of the other retreads as a number 2 receiver or a number one when Decker went down. That is a lack of planning and hoping you find receiver in the preseason rather then planning on having talent just in case you don't. Wayne Cherbret doesn't happen on demand and it just seemd they hoped one of the cut players would turn into him.

Cb when you have 2 injury prone cbs which we knew you do not go in with just Patterson a journeymen at best because he is also injury prone as your only real plan. he had 4 interceptions last yr but look at how many games he has played in his career he played 8 games in the last two years of his career. So I would question taking a player like that as your main plan as a solution. in 9 years he played in 79 games out of 144 games roughly a little over half. Kind of puts that in perspective doesn't it.
Injuries happen knowing you drafted 2 injury prone corners I would have signed someone with a better track record of being healthy on game day.

The offensive line is the only place where he may have done right picking players and developing them. Unless there is a can't miss prospect at oline when you pick you are better developing your own. The down side is the development time. Not signing Howard was a smart move because he was replaced cheaper with a player of same skill level so that is a wash at best.

You can't fix everything in one year but you can fix one area, this was a year where he could have gotten another receiver another number two at a reasonable cap number to help a young qb.

He also could have signed another journeyman corner back an older player to help the younger players out after Patterson freaked out. Flowers became available and as desperate as we were did he make a play for him I do not thing so 27 yr old corner back on a two or 3 yr contract a former pro bowler should have helped, but nope did not do that either.

So instead he takes in the box safety and makes roam in the deep center field further making the draft look bad because the kid is not doing what he known for, making the pick look worse. For that he could have drafted Cooks who was there, and then got a safety later with one of the 4 receiver picks he cut already.

Poor planning leads to poor implementation and that is what we are seeing on the field. He put himself in a corner gambling on too much for everything to click just right and it imploded. But if he planned correctly, drafted correctly, we would not be in this position. I am not looking for a pro bowler every draft that would be great but not going to happen but I would like to see more then 4 or 5 starters brought in 2 yrs. Your argument is you can't grade the draft this early everyone who is unhappy is saying you can grade a draft where you cut 7 of 12 players already as failure no matter how you try to defend it by trying to find impact players, our argument is just find players.

This is not just the draft but he failed all around that is why he needs to go. if he would have signed another receiver and journeyman db we would be looking at 14 to 15 million in carry over money, instead he gets a 1 yr rental possibly in Percy and wraps up the saving he worked so hard for in one player rather then two players...........

I've been one who was willing to be patient and let Idzik build the team the right way. I liked the way he handled the cap and wanted to build through the draft. The problem is, he doesn't seem to be a good judge of talent or of how to build the team. It's still early and some of his draft picks could still develop and play at a high level, but so far, aside from Richardson, none of them are overwhelming me. Not one of this year's draft picks is contributing at anything even remotely resembling a high level.

You're right that no one's perfect out of the gate and he was new at the job. That said, he had 12 draft picks this year, the team had HUGE needs at WR and CB, and it can be argued that it would have been wise to use a draft pick on a QB. He let all the topnotch WRs and CBs go by the board. He took a TE that I didn't want at all. At least one or two of this year's picks should be playing well and making some key contributions and they aren't. If the 12 picks wind up being pretty much wasted, that's unforgivable in my estimation (as a GM, not as a human). I don't hate or dislike him as a person, but detest the job he's done with the roster, and that's the most important aspect of his job imo.

Rex should be fired at the end of this season, and I don't trust Idzik to hire the right guy as the new HC, if for no other reason that his recent press conference where he said Rex was doing a great job. He lost the remaining trust I had for him with those comments.

Finally, lots of people in lots of types of jobs/professionas are fired if they don't immediately produce at a high level. When you're hired, you're expected to be competent and be able to do your job. Only in sports are people so willing to wait and give a GM or HC 5-6 years to "develop" or do their job well. That's just no real world imo. Besides, I've already spent 50 years of my life watching shoddy play, coaching and drafting by the Jets. If I'm wrong, so be it, but I'm just not willing to wait 4-5 years to let someone learn on the job and be competent.

$1500 max? A billboard for a month in Houston runs $20 grand. I can't imagine it's cheaper in NYC or NJ.

Idzik doesn't run a public owned entity like Barcelona and Green Bay who vote on reps to oversee the team. How are we supposed to show our displeasure? Check out some of things Ohio State, UNC and Duke fans have done to their coaches when they don't win!

But the thing is that most people were good with the Geno pick and it was a fairly understandable pick in the 2nd round. He took the low hanging fruit and it bit him. His other option was to stick with Sanchez? Not ideal either. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't.

He's missed on some picks, I agree. So does every GM. And I can guarantee that no one on this board was drafting Richardson. One point for Idzik. I can guarantee that half to most were on board with milliner, good with Pryor, and amaro. I didn't want either Pryor or amaro, but it's still way too early and remember the flashes milliner showed in two games. Some of us wanted to see different WRs drafted than we got, but to say he didn't address the position isn't true. He got the best WR in FA with Decker. Yes we could use another and we just got one. At CB, we could have overspend on guys like DRC or Vontae. I thought he made the wise decision.

Look, if we admit that last year we had a lot of fluke wins, then this year shouldn't be much of a surprise. We knew 1-6 was on the table, but we're reacting like it wasn't. It was a brutal early schedule, and we shouldn't be surprised that the team went in and played awfully against buffalo when you already have 6 losses in a row.

I'm not saying Idzik is going a bang up job, or that Rex is. But whoever comes in in idziks place is going to look phenomenal with the cap situation Idzik put us in for next year. The guy created a good situation money wise and sacrificed the year. Don't we owe him the chance to see what he can do with that? Or do we let someone else take the credit for that? Did we expect a super bowl contender within 2 years?

We have a very overreactive fan base. Calling for a HC after 6 years, fine. I can't defend rex anymore. Sure he's devoid of talent, but he can't even get his team to try anymore, and he's never once instilled discipline in them with penalties, clock management, or turnovers. I've been a supporter of rex's and would be willing to keep him around if we can spend some cash in the off-season for one more year, but would have no problem with him going. With Idzik though, you gotta give the guy more than 2 years, especially with what he's done with our cap. That can't be ignored. If he's sacrificing a season to set us up, then I'm okay with it. I'd like to give him the opportunity to see his vision through. If it fails, you bring in a new GM with his own coach.
