The only thing I didn't do at this game was tailgate after the game was over. I just wanted to get the fuck home. But me n tballlz managed to stay. The trick was moving down to the Mezz in the 4th quarter. We dried up a bit there, but my jeans were already wet and frozen even with a long plastic raincoat on. Everytime I squeezed my hands I felt like I was wringing out my gloves of ice water. It was bad.

We knew it was going to be rough coming in. Normally we meet our usual tailgate crew at the stadium. We were supposed to meet them at 1pm, but they cancelled on us on the last minute. Luckily tballlz forgot his ezpass, otherwise we would've been well on our way to the stadium all the way from the North Shore of Long Island. So I went back, brushed off my charcoal grill, cooler, and packed a pair of chairs into my little red toyota cellica (whose trunk doesn't even open). Stopped for sausages and burgers at Penn Plaza off of RT 1/9 and grilled in the rain. Yup, the rain. It was a patch job, but we did what we could. We went INTO the game soaking wet already, but managed to stay. I can totally understand why some people left early, because at halftime I thought about it as well. So I don't blame anyone for cutting out early FOR WHATEVER REASON. But just really can't stand those critiquing others who actually made the effort and the trip. Now, THAT...is a real bitch thing to do.

The only good thing about all this was, the traffic wasn't so bad on the way home right after the game. Left at 815ish, got home at 1030. Still had a great time, but can't say so much for our Jets. Hopefully the Buffalo game will be better.

By the way, tballlz made the quote of the day that day.

I don't think we need to explain ourselves to anybody. Even being there for a half I sat in the cold rain a couple hours longer than the people on here "calling us out". I've sat in cold and rain to watch bad Jet teams dating back to the 70s, if I want to leave early I will.

My friend who came with me also came to the Cleveland game last year, that one was freezing rain with the great Kellen Clemens at QB and we stayed to the end because we weren't soaking wet. The KC game in Week 17 last year at 3-12 wasn't exactly a warm day at the ballpark, either. Plenty of good seats were available for that one.

One one play I got up and extended my arm out to signal a first down and a sheet of water flew off my arm and splashed to the ground. Had anyone been in the six seats to my left they would have gotten doused. The money in my wallet is still damp and sticking together and it's fucking Tuesday.

I went to the Cleveland game last year, stayed to the end, and had a great time. Stayed bone dry and it was a good game, with the Jets coming back and almost winning. Sunday was a disaster. It was raining hard for the entire 7 hours I was at the swamp. It was raining sideways. I had all kinds of raingear and I was soaked. The weather was a nightmare. The game was a nightmare. I left at the two minute warning of the first half.

It's hard to go to these games in perfect weather with all you gotta deal with. People that don't go have no idea. On days like yesterday, fuhgettaboutit. A blizzard would have been easier to deal with.

Haha...there was a couple sitting right in front of me in Sect 327 and in one occassion during the TJ TD I jumped up to start cheering when all the water collected on my raincoat and gloves (cause I started clapping) literally jumped off me and fell on them. I apologized and he told me not to worry about it. It was all good. A few people left to my left, so I moved a couple of seats over so it wouldn't happen again.

I splashed a few people by accident with all the water my jacket absorbed, but then I realized they were Broncos fans and I stopped caring.

In the morning I looked out at my yard and saw a dusting of snow on the ground and was hoping for a snow game. If that happened I'd have picked up some food and packed the grill, etc, but not in the rain.

Best part about that game, with about 5 or 6 minutes left the Dog Pounders were some of the only people left in my section and really starting to assert themselves. Then the Jets scored, got the onsides kick, scored again and suddenly all the dogs disappeared into thin air. Actually thick, heavy, wet air.

Tailgating in the rain sucks.I had the luxury of owning an ez-up tent with sides. It was great for the rain but the Meadowlands wind wreaked havoc on the tent. Then when its game time you need to pack up a wet tent and put it in the back of your suv or car.

Staying dry tailgating was 1/2 the battle staying dry during the game was a war I never won. 3 sets of rain gear, panchos, tarps you name it. Id much rather sit home than be at the Meadowlands in the pouring rain.
