If that's true, the Jets should subsidize some additional fans (create more Fireman Eds!) or perhaps put a clause in some subset of tickets requiring people to stay and cheer or face some penalty. Or maybe they can build a more fan-friendly environment via a more grass-roots type campaign by creating a winning atmosphere over a period of years, lowering prices, making the stadium and parking more fan friendly, etc.
Look at the bright side. If it was last year they wouldn't have left at the half because they would have never shown up to begin with.
Yeah, that was a little (and I guess not that funny) joke. I go to all of the games ('cept Sunday as I have the flu...though in hindsight I'm happy I missed it with that weather!), and I've stayed to the end in all but 1 game this year. I agree with the sentiment that it would be great if everyone went all the time, stayed until the end, and cheered with great vigor. And I think it makes sense to encourage that at the games by encouraging others to cheer, via threads like these saying "go and cheer!" But I think it's a little silly to take it too far saying people who leave early or don't go for whatever reason (terrible weather, frozen limbs, water-soaked broken cell phones, illness, other commitments, etc) are somehow inferior. And that they don't have the right to do so. They paid for the ticket, and there are no strings attached by the Jets stipulating that they stay a certain time or produce a certain decibel level of cheers, so they should do whatever the heck they want to. Just my two cents. But it's an interesting discussion. Go Jets!
I just discovered that my wallet is still wet from the game. My wallet was zipped in my inner jacket pocket- waterproof jacket covered by a poncho- how the hell did it get wet? Country- OK to post the pictures?
I left during the 4th quarter the game was over. I bet 1/2 the folks in this thread bitchin watched the game at home from there couch.
Totally agree ...get rid of your damn tickets if your gonna whine about conditions/traffic etc..Support your team!! You knew what the conditions would be so dress accordingly...Many people in my section were yelling at other fans leaving and i totally support them. You have already made the trip out and planned for it ...stay till the end or at least when the game is out of reach! With BF behind center you never know! People leaving at half or thru the 3rd quarter was just dissappointing. The funny thing is ...if you go out to the parking lot after the game ...its more packed out there then it is in the stadium ! Hope Buffalo game turnout is much better!
I hate animals and I was at the Billy White Shoes game. Damm, it rained like hell that day also. I am not sure what staying for the game has to do with Family, but they come first for sure. Hell, first thing I did when I got home was hug my wife and them I took the longest hot shower of my life. Man, that was one cold and wet game. DId not matter what you wore, you were wet and cold.
Now I know why the Mezzanine should pay PSL's and us uppers should be free..... THE GOD DAMM RAIN!!!!!
I left at halftime, fuck it. My wife bailed on the game, I dragged a friend out there who isn't even a Jet fan, both of us had a lot of shit to do Monday so we bolted and went to a bar. Had I been with a Jet fan who wanted to stay I probably would have, but that wasn't the case and I'm not into torturing people. I don't care what people on a message board think. I'm a fan but I'm not stupid.
The weather and the performance of the NYJETS almost made me turn off the TV at home.I personally have sat out in the rain and cold and it sucks. The NYJETS didnt show up this past Sunday so lets not bash fans who did and get nothing but a wet ass and shitty football team on the field.
I didn't even leave because of the quality of the game, I've sat through much worse. It was 13 points with a half to go, I thought we were going to come back and win, actually. Mostly we were soaked and freezing, the guy who came with me is a regular stand-in for when my wife bails, and we decided to go. I had mixed feelings until we got to the car and put the heat on. By the time the game ended I was finishing a hot dinner in a bar five minutes from home, having missed a FG for us and a TD for them, I knew we made the right call. Had they not delayed the game for a bunch of long reviews--one for an offsides--we might have made it into the third quarter, but then again maybe not.
We are not whining about the things you mentioned. We are just giving reasons for what we were called out on. Myself, I do not stay till the end always. I leave when I deem the game to be over. I left when It when the score was 34-17 after the last DEN TD. Against the Rams I left when it was 42-3 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd. If that makes me a less of a fan so be it, but my life revolves around the JETS during the season, and I have missed family functions to be at all the games over the years. If the game is close, I never think about leaving early. Usually, I leave a game in "kneel down" situation. That extra 20 seconds gives me a 20 minute jump to get to my car (my seats are right near the escalator).
