Don't you love the people that always bash us that go to the games? They were probably still in bed when we were on the road to the stadium. For all the people that watch from home for whatever reason, do you not change the channel when a commercial comes on or at halftime? Do you watch every second of the game? Do you prepare weeks in advance to watch a game on TV? Do you drive to and from games in Torrential rains?

If it was 50 and sunny and the Jets were winning, those who complain would have a case. But, in this situation no way.

    Let's summarize.
    - I sit in the top row
    - It was really fuckin cold.
    - I had been simmering in the cold since 11AM, which is when I pull into the parking lot - 5 hours pre-game - the soonest we are allowed to.
    - I was wearing high end ski gear, but that freezing water gets in somehow. Unfortunately my scarf, hat, gloves were not waterproof. If feet/hands get cold, there is no saving you, no matter how dry and warm your core is.
    - The rain never relented. At all. Not in a 7 hour span.
    - The product on the field sucked. The team sucked, the refs sucked, and i was shaking.
As a guy who has missed one home game out of the last 120 or so - I don't wanna hear it. I said it 10 times in the stands tonight - I would rather it have been 10 and snowing than the 35-40 it was an raini

    ******************************************************************************

I felt the same way, cold and wet everywhere, except I sit in the 9th row and I stayed. Maybe you should come later and stay for the actual game. There is no excuse for leaving and the game was not over at 1/2 time so don't give that product bullshit. You are suppose to be fan, not a critic

Can't blame anybody, I would have bolted too!...I didnt go to yesterdays game but I go to about 4 - 5 a year. Only time I left early was in 05 the day after X-Mas. It was snowing, windy, 10 degrees and Penny was tossing softballs to the Pats LB's all game. After the 3rd pick I just couldnt take it.

oh god another one of these "season ticket holder fans suck" Kiss my ass i stayed all the way up to the 12 min mark in the 4th when they failed on their 4th down attempt. To the fans who complain about season ticket holders guess what you had your shot and still may have one at buying season tickets for the new stadium. Put your money where you mouth is or just shut up already.

    When YOU pay MY Bills...............

I'll stay for the entire game...........If you're to juvenile or masochistic to come in out of the shitty weather when the players of the game you're watching are being highly compensated for their efforts, then the only thing that you're committed to is machismo. And I mean machismo nothing else. Sorry, but I have to pay my bills for my family and if that means cutting short my attendance at a game so be it. MY FAMILY comes first, that includes All responsibilities to them. In my book, that's what separates boys from men. Knowing your place in the world, and living within bounds for which you have bargained.
I've been attending games since the late 70's, sat through the Billy "White Shoes" Johnson's almost single handed destruction of a 20 point Jets lead at Shea, was at most of home games for the 80's, 90's, 00's. Have seen my fair share of dreck, and this was on of those "Jet's believing in the PR that their getting and the other team needs to win the game."types of debacle.
Been there and done that many times.

So I have a question for you LoyalJetsFan.

I've got four large dogs that need to be walked 3 times a day on ANY DAY.

And they want to go a half mile at a time. Wanna cowboy up for that job???

All I'm saying is that by the start of the 3rd quarter, the place was more than half empty...

If we were winning, I wonder how many of you would have stayed?

For all you big talkers about how they're not the SOJ and you were at the game, it didn't really seem like you truly believe that.

This thread brings back some miserable memories of Shea in the late 70s/early 80s. Cold, wet, windy and a terrible game to watch. Good times.

I always stay til the end. Rain, Shine, no matter what.
    Yesterday was no exception.

    It was Cold & Ugly.
I got home, took a Hot Shower. Had a cup of tea w/Sweet Potato pie and hit the sack.

I had about 9 messages on my phone when I woke up.
Yesterday was one of the few times where I really didn't want to deal with it cause it was just too ugly all around.

I left with just 2:00 minutes left in the 4th but with the way the team played and the crappy weather I probably should have left earlier.

You raise some interesting points. The crowd was a bit down it seemed, that would be my only complaint. But I don't have tickets either, it is their tickets to do as they please. I would love to see a full house and have the teamed get pumped up by it, but oh well, better things to do I guess.

I wasn't there, but i remember when I lived on LI. The thought of getting back to Eastern LI sat in my mind all 4th qtr. The crossings are a real bitch. And i am sorry, but that cold rain had to suck! That is the absolute worst weather. Atleast snow doesn't soak you.

Haha. Yes - people who pay 10s of thousands of dollars for PSLs will realize their per-minute cost is ginormous and be forced to come early and stay for hours after games just to make them financially viable :)

I actually stayed home yesterday. I have the flu, and was bummed since it's the first game I've missed this season (I even went to both preseason games).

But shivering on my couch with fever and nausea and seeing that rain, cold, and shitty game, I was kind of happy I missed it :)

We get that here too, just not as early or as often (see my avatar); we can handle it.

No offense, but I don't want to hear this crap. There's nothing wrong with the fans from Jersey. They're no different than anybody. I'm from Suffolk County as well. Jet fan since '68. Been to Shea (Shea's over, get over it.). Season ticket holder since '94. I went. I drove. I stayed. I froze. I tried to scream loud enough to make up for those who left. It felt like a pre-season game. It wasn't over at halftime. The Jets did suck yesterday, but they needed us to support them. What if it was the playoffs? No excuse to leave. No excuse to no-show. During a 4-12 season maybe, but not this year. (Where was that front-runner Fireman Ed? I think he left before halftime.) I guess by your standard that makes me the biggest Jet fan in the world.

    A) If you weren't there, I don't think you can pass judgment.

    B) I was there, and stayed till the end in the pouring rain and wasted 275 bucks on that damn game.

For the record, I don't blame a single person for leaving that game. The weather was absolutely miserable. I feel awful today because of it.

Do you know how ridiculous you sound? You act like you're being there is REALLY motivating them to win that game. Grown men are playing football. If that was them trying to kill each other, maybe they should have tried to do it before they gained 10 yards every play. And yeah, it's not like these guys are paid exorbitant amounts of money to do this or anything. You act like they're doing this for free and being there was a privilege. I think the opposite. I paid good money for a game when I was hoping to see a great game, and what did I get? A waste of money. Like I said, I stayed, but stop bitching about people leaving. No one wants to see a team lose. For most players, it's about money anyway. Sure they might love to play the game, but who wouldn't getting paid what they get paid?

Listen - If the team put a better product on the field yesterday, a lot more fans would have stayed toward the end.

Me? I was forced to leave due to an emergency. I would have stayed until close to the end. I also wasn't getting very wet. I can't blame you that left early. The rest of my tailate left early as well and those guys usually don't leave early.

Terrible weather + terrible team play + holiday traffic = hard core fans leaving early!!
