If they hit RFA, the Jets still have the advantage of first refusal or draft picks in one of the more stacked drafts in a few years. Not giving him his money right now is actually a better idea for us. We have more room to maneuver in terms of signing Greene and Sanchez now than if we add a salary increase to Leon's deal. Tanny is playing this right and Keels is being an idiot. With the uncapped year coming up and the increased seniority/experience requirements of UFA qualification, staying put right now is the best move. Not many teams are going to be so willing to give up two picks for a player who has yet to prove to be effective without a supporting cast in a starting role.

I love Leon and want to see him get payed but as far as the team goes, I have to agree with DH on this one.

I'm becoming disgruntled hearing the word disgruntled again when it comes to Jets players. I've been over that before, and I can't believe I'm the only one who finds it really, REALLY tiresome.

No matter how legitimate, I can't stand hearing it or seeing the belly-aching drama. Does he think he's sending a 'secret message' here? I love Leon, but just show up to camp and let it play itself out - because it will.

I really get tired of all the players holding out for early contract renewals. You signed a contract to play for x years for x dollars. Be a man, live up to your word, and just do it !!

Actually in the NFL it isn't... teams can cut your ass anytime they want so it's right that players do what they can to earn more.
Plus in the NFL you should also be wary of injuries... especially for RB's...

The point is it's ok to fight for a contract but he has to be fair over his demands. We will never pay him 6 a year (we don't have the cap space) so if he wants a new contract he better ask for 4 mill maximum.
