Dexter McCluster wouldn't be asked to be an every down back or anything even close. His versatility is very intriguing. He's got value as a return specialist, as a slot receiver, and as a change of pace back. Stafon Johnson was one of the highest rated running back recruits in the nation when he signed with USC. If it weren't for that weight lifting accident, he'd be a very high draft pick. Charles Scott is a tank. He was arguably the best back in the SEC in 2008. Joique Bell is an interesting prospect. I've heard nothing but good things about this kid. I'm sure his stats are inflated because of the lack of competition at Wayne State, but he's arguably the best small school prospect in this draft. Lonyae Miller is sort of a workout warrior. So much was expected of him at Fresno State, and he was always just a mediocre back. Miller's got track speed and he's built like a truck. I think he'll continue to tear up the combine tomorrow. Yes. It's not like the kid was just smoking weed. He was a cocaine dealer. That name fits him, huh?
I def understand the business side of this move. But I'm going to miss TJ. Seemed like a team leader and someone who really cared about winning and losing. Let's hope Leon is back to full speed next season. Greene has never played a full nfl season were def. going to need to pick up another back for insurance.
No. He's done absolutely everything right up to this point. All he has to do tomorrow is be better than mediocre.
I really like Gerhart in this offense. If Rex wants to emulate the Ravens, Gerhart can be his power back. Plus, the guy has some moves to him. Not just a one dimensional player.
I feel a bit like I felt when Pete Kendall was let go: obviously we're not losing a likely all-pro but we sure need to make certain that we have some quality depth behind Greene or we could be in for a very long season next year. If Greene cannot carry the load it's hard to see how Mark Sanchez will progress next year.
Am I the only one who doesn't think this fluff piece says a damn thing? 'Doesn't anticipate the Jets picking up Jones' $3.3. mill roster bonus.' Did anybody here really think were were about to pay Jones $6 mill for one more year? "The team and Jones still could work out a restructured deal before the start of the league year next week." That's some real breaking news!!! I'm not ragging on the OP, but this article says nothing we all didn't already know!
Only now we have two seasoned minds working the offseason/draft/preseason instead of an accountant and an egomaniac.
You are quickly becoming one of my least favorite posters. Read the entire damn thread. Adam Schefter is reporting the Jets will part ways with Thomas Jones. Apparently, the two sides discussed a restructure of his contract, and he turned them down. Jones will be released sometime in the next few days.
Well this sucks, better hope Greene works out and Leon doesn't get re-injured. Do you guys think there's a chance that he comes back if he doesn't get a (much) better offer elsewhere?
I think Joique Bell is intriguing. He's got legit size and numbers and I like his background. No idea if his skills translate to pros.
Has it been any particular post or opinion of mine that has led to this? Dude, chill out. I responded to a post that came before the twitter link EcKo151 posted. The post/article I quoted doesn't mention Adam Schefter at all. The thing I quoted is all speculative.
Everyones talking about HBs, but what about a fullback like McClain ? Hes a probowl caliber awesome proven FB who can run and hes played with Rex on the Ravens. Not to mention hes young and could be picked up for a 2nd round pick. Could definitely be a good transition FB as Trich will be done in 1 maybe 2 years. Then we could pick up a later hb, give chauncy washington a shot as our #3 and then make adjustments from there in 2011 ?
Chester Taylor would be a good pick up. He's made a career as a change of pace back so he'd be apt for the role. Plus bc of his role he has low miles.
