Well. Ed Reed has really dark skin and Eric Smith is burnt all of the time, maybe that is what he meant.
I'm not sure why anyone is making a big deal out of this. I think it's great that he's trying to motivate his troops. I can't see anyone taking this seriously enough to think Eric Smith is vastly improved, but if it helps motivate the guy and he develops into a solid rotational safety, what's the harm?
While I do hear what you guys are saying and for the most part agree. Is it possible that in his system E. Smith is just better suited (than he was in mangini's) and excelling thus far??? Some players in some systems just work.
So Eric Smith is Ed Reed, Bryan Thomas is Adilus Thomas, and Vernon Gholston is Suggs. Sorry, but I have a hard time believing Rex here
It would be nice to think E Smith has really upgraded his game, and maybe Ryan is merely reflecting that he has. But yes, I will wait to see him play in real games before I have any confidence in him. He's made some plays, but on the whole has been mediocre.
Yeah it's getting ridiculous. C'mon now, Reed is one of the best safeties EVER. Reed is a far better safety than Rhodes, let alone Eric frikin Smith. C'mon Rex.
No one should outright believe him. I don't think he really believes what he's saying, nor do I think that the players in question really think they're as good as the aforementioned Ravens. However, I don't see any harm in what Rex is doing. At the very least, we want these guys playing with confidence and giving that extra effort.
the reason people are making a big deal out of it is because when you hear good things about guys as a fan you want to believe them. you want to trust your head coach that he is telling you that a guy is impressing that he actually is. rex has been completely over the top and mostly full of shit with his comparisons and some more people are starting to catch onto it. just remember this thread when he tells you how impressed he is with gholston and snachez. remember that he compared smith to reed and think about what he is saying before you get all wet in your panties about what gholston and snachez are going to do this year. i have this sick feeling that the jets are going to really let alot of people down this year due to the way too lofty expectations that seem to be happening. i just hope that people dont turn on rex when all this bullshit he is spewing doesnt turn into a superbowl. because i think he will end up doing well... and i really hope he and scott start to stfu already.
i thought exactly that thought. however i didnt know if i wanted to post it here. of course we dont hear about THAT now do we.
in my eyes they need to stop with all the talking. a little bit is fine but its every day with these 2 guys. they can talk once they accomplish something. they have accomplished nothing. i would actually rather they act like professionals and dont talk at all, just know how good they are. trust me if they are that good everyone will know without them having to talk about it all the goddamn time. talk is fuckin cheap and these 2 are full of it.
