A lot of guys lol probably over 50. Evans hasn't shown anything for a team to put him on the opening day 53 and called upon to actually play. Practice squad wise he could have 20 teams calling.
LOL Listen, you may be right, I wasn't doubting you, just don't know of any other than maybe Ryan Broyles. The Panthers traded with Seattle to get Norwood. You're probably right that a number of teams would want Evans on their PS. He has talent, so it would be nice if we could keep him on our PS, but I'm not gonna shed any tears if someone else puts in a claim for him.
he can't answer you, as he has no answer. that one muffed punt a year ago is the entire basis behind his irrational hatred of a fringe roster player. he's got a lot of complaints, but he's not quite sure what he's complaining about. unfortunately that's just how some people operate. Powell isn't this guys first rant rodeo.
its just odd in this case. The Kyle Wilson hate, while overdramatic, was funny at times and at least justifiable due to the high expectations and lack of production. Same with Stephen Hill. Same with Dewayne Robertson. But Walter Powell?? a walk-on returner with 4 career games? He muffed a punt in his 3rd game ever but he also took a kickoff back 60 yards the very next week and this preseason took a punt back for TD. What is there to hate? the 1 time he made a mistake? even if thats it- - he's a freakin walk-on returner, why the overdramatic crying over that? he's a bottom of the roster player
I didn't even know you posted in the Jets forum. I figured your TGG activity was limited to Villanova and Caddyshack. And after scanning your threads started in the Jets & NFL forums, it probably should be.
All his "drops" come in drills though. Whenever in team & thus far in the preseason, he has shown to have soft hands. He runs very smooth routes has speed after the catch w/ size to boot. Look does he need to work on his hands? You bet he does. But he's made major strides & I think having a developmental WR on this roster would be wise. Additionally, catching a pass & catching a punt are 2 completely different things w/ arguably far different skill sets than the general label of "hands". We're talking about trying the potential #6 WR(and even tat maybe a stretch) at returner where he has some experience at a position that has yet to be earned. In preseason game 4. I'm failing to see the rage & need for such labels as "Stone hands".
Well considering D rob was likely our best DT over a good 5 year period that included multiple playoff berths, the crap Bradway had playing next to Fergy before him, & the fact that both Bill Cowher & Marty Schottenheimer glowed about D rob after playoff games against the Jets;Yeah I'd say it's not deserving. But we've had this argument for over a decade. You should be mad at Bradway for giving up all those picks while knowing about the degenerative knee & Mangini forcing a clear under 4-3 DT to play straight 2 gap nose.
I think it was Br4d that made a very good point about Robertson. Had he been a second round pick like he probably should have, then he probably wouldn't have ever been labeled a bust. He was just over-drafted and of course we gave up the farm to get him so he's obviously going to fall into the bust category.
No rage, I just don't think he's that good. He was bad last year in camp dropping a lot of passes before he got hurt, and hasn't been that good in camp this year. Sorry, but I don't believe that all his drops have come in drills. I'm positive that I remember reading in some of the camp reports that he dropped passes in team play. I don't see him as the #6 WR, either. Marshall, Decker, Smith, Kerley, Owusu, and Enunwa are all better imo.
I've read in multiple places that Shaq HAS had a good camp outside of some of the drops you allude to.Including Profootballfocus. I attended 2 TC Sessions & didn't see a single drop from him in neither drills nor team. He gets separation, is smooth in his breaks & has displayed soft hands including on deep patterns. I see him as a project. He has come a long LONG way from last preseason..you have to admit that. I agree that all 6 you list are better players at this stage. But I think Enunwa will assume more of a TE role..which may open up a spot for Shaq. Otherwise I like him for the PS, if he passes through waivers. I'm not sure he will.
how about Brassard, Stepan, Callahan, or any other number of Ranger players i can probably fill in? apologies if i'm confusing you with someone else. but i'm pretty sure you are someone who thrives on hating guys on his own teams.
