No doubt we need speed LB'rs to play sideline to sideline but Pace still does a good job getting to the QB at times.
I wouldn't mind him back in a limited role

It doesn't matter if I agree with you and say that Pace played great this year.

Next year he will be one year older and another year older the year after that.

Eventually time is going to win and Pace is going to be slower than he is now.

This is a bet I do not want us to make.

He's been below average the past 2 years, he was bad last season. Completely ineffective going after the QB and considering the amount of money he made (over 2 mil.) just setting the edge to stop the run just doesn't do it. He can do that, but for that he better accept the veteran minimum. Colon is essentially the same guy, at least he made exactly what he's worth (vet minimum). I have no problem bringing Pace back for the same amount but he just isn't worth 2-3 mil. per year, that's ridiculous. I'd much rather have Coples back and take over for him. Not for 12 million of course. Would be hilarious if the Dolphins paid him that.

Pace is no spring chicken but I don't get everyone's obsession each offseason of dumping him. If you can upgrade the position and he's a backup, great probably a move we should be looking to make but each year he produces and he's a great veteran teammate he should be brought back at the minimum to compete for a job in camp.

I agree with bringing him back to camp at the vet minimum.

With that being said, we need to bring in talent to start / compete for a starting job and we do not need to commit bonus money to Pace who could end up a step slower.

Strange, overthecap listing 10.7M as our cap space to 2016 (with 150M cap) and we will have 2.4M cap rollover according to NFLPA report.
    Not too much.
We can make some move, but not sure that we will have enough cap space to re-sign Fitz+Snack or franchise MO. :/

I'd rather the Jets go with a young player they can use on STs than Pace. He has been a good player for us, but it's time to part ways.

There's no two ways about it, Mac has some tough decisions to make and his work cut out for him. I'm sure that some players like Cro, Cumberland, Kerley will be cut. Some that are FAs will not be re-signed. Hopefully, Brick takes a sizable pay cut. Some additional space can possibly be gained by converting salary to bonus with some younger players. It's going to be interesting. The one thing I'm certain of is that there will be posters calling for Mac's head because of moves he either made or did not make.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said Thursday in Santa Clara, California that he and the rest of the NFLPA “conservatively expect” the NFL’s salary cap to increase another $10 million in 2016.

DeMaurice Smith says "conservatively" the NFLPA believes the trend of $10 million increases to the salary cap will continue in 2016.

If Smith’s expectations come to fruition, it would a continue a trend that’s been playing out for the last three years. After an original drop in salary cap after the 2011 lockout, the unadjusted team cap has gone from $123 million in 2013 to $133 million in 2014 to $143.28 million in 2015.

As it pertains to the Jets, if the cap were to be increased to $153 million, the team would have roughly $13.244 million in available funds, making the adjustment to the figure on OverTheCap.com.

    Plus cap rollover ~ 2.4M

ESPN reports that as of today, the Jets have $11.8 million cap space, and there is no mention of any rollover amount.

It's good to hear that we have more cap space than the phins, Patriots and Bills. Obviously that's going to change once the cuts start going through (ie Mario Williams).

By giving Suh a gazillion dollars. Ironic isn't it? Tanny's there working in some capacity. He's supposed to be the numbers man, and yet the Dolphins are in the worst cap shape in the NFL. LMAO

It's my understanding that no, that isn't possible. All contracts are frozen until the end of the league year, beginning of the next league year, and at that time those who are due to become FAs will become FAs.

Send the Turk to as many deadbeat players as possible....we all know who they are

Free up more $ and try to keep Fitz and Mo. Do that with Dbrick restructuring and Mac gets an Oscar imho

ah ok. I thought teams had like 3 days to deal with their own players before other teams could move in for the kill.

There is a short period, I believe, where they can negotiate and possibly re-sign their own players before they become FAs, but I don't believe they can be traded during that period, but I may be wrong.

OMG, Calvin Pace is so over the hill. Are you serious? Why don't we bring back Bryan Thomas, then? Both made a living of getting contracts from the jets for years past their expired shelf life.
