Jets Could release Gholston and let Douglas hit the open market

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by gustoonarmy, Feb 23, 2010.

  1. As all great field generals will attest, there comes a moment of singular clarity when one must "bite the bullet" (as it were) and move on from the fray. It has become vividly apparent that Sig. Gholston will be left to fend for himself in the quagmire of the NFL, if not his mind.

I saw enough when he tried chasing down Cutler and it looked like he had 20 lbs of shit in his pants...

That's why I had the phrase "among others" in there.

NDMick had it right, though, that Robertson was better than Haight and Thomas. Robertson was at least productive for a couple years. Haight and Thomas had a few good games here and there, but were not really plus players for any full seasons.

When I recounted that play my analogy was to a fat kid in quicksand. Yours is infinitely better..

He has not been asked to rush the passer because he has been awful at it. Maybe we can trade him to a 4-3 team with an undersized DE who is currently playing like shit. Or a moldy bagel. Either would be useful.

Yup' Best thing we can do is to cut him. Best thing he can do is to buy a few Popeys franchises and call himself: "King Chicken".

Don't forget Roger Vick.......... he might have been more useless than the other two.......

Joe Walton said during training camp in 1987 that Vick reminded him of John Riggins.....LOL

Don't know if this has been posted before, via rotoworld

"According to ProFootballFocus.com, Jets OLB Vernon Gholston has totaled just 11 QB pressures and one QB hit in his first two seasons.

He has zero sacks. Gholston has blitzed 207 times over that span on 379 defensive snaps. In other words, he is averaging just one "pressure" every 18 times he rushes the passer. Gholston was the No. 6 overall pick in 2008"

Maybe from now on we can refer to a bust as a 'Gholston'.
Seriously those stats if right, totally shocked me.
The case for Ghost using 'roids has never been proved, (has it?) so I don't inderstand how someone can have such a colossal drop off in form. Incredible
