I don't know all of the information, but here is what I do know when it comes to some of the Jets cap stuff. I believe this is accurate, but not a guarantee. The thing you have to remember is that these $25 million over numbers do not include the cost of tagging John Abraham. In order to get under the cap AND tag Abraham (for the intent of a trade) you need to clear about $34 million.

With Law, I believe his current cap number is $14 million. I believe cutting him would result in $2.4 mil in dead money (The renegotiation they did late in the year turned his 06 guarantee into a signing bonus, saving the Jets 600K on the 06 cap). If my data is correct, cutting Law saves $11.6 million.

According to a Fox Sports article in October, Fiedler's cap number is $5.63 million. According to the info I have he only received a 500K bonus on a 5 year deal. Based on these figures, cutting Fiedler saves about $5.25 million.

If you want to cut Martin you save $2.4 million. His base salary is $6.2 million. If he is willing to cut his salary down below $3.8 mil, the Jets would save more by keeping him.

I honestly have zero info on Dewayne, and whatever escalators are in his contract.

Cutting Fabini saves $3.4 million against the cap, unless he is willing to play for the vet minimum, this should be a no-brainer.

Kendall received 6 mil in guarantees between 04-06. I don't know how they were split up, but assuming they were divided up equally between the three years, the savings from cutting him is $2.3 million.

Cutting Martin, Fabini, Kendall, Law, and Fiedler. If all of this info is correct saves $24.95 million. However that alone will not be enough if you want to tag Abraham, sign picks, etc.

I don't know if there's any bonuses that Mawae is due this March. Assuming there is none, cutting Kevin only saves $1.2 million.

There has been talk of Sowell being cut. Assuming there are no unknown bonuses (none to my knowledge), cutting him saves $400K.

Cutting Jolley saves $545K, however with Baker a free agent, I don't know how viable of an option this is.

Eric Barton has a $1 million roster bonus his way. Converting this into a signing bonus, saves about $670K against the cap.

Dewayne, Coles, and Ellis all reportedly have huge roster bonuses due. Unfortunately I do not have this info.

Unless the savings from renegotiating those three contracts results in like $10 mil in savings. I don't know if the Jets have the cap room to cut Curtis/Chad and tag Abraham at the same time. For that reason I think either Chad or Curtis (if not both) are back on a reduced contract.
