Mike Evans might be suspended for next week. He blindsided a saints player on the sideline then punched him while he was down.
Besides the junk time TD I didn't see much difference in play between the 2. R. Fitzpatrick 8/15 68 1 0 2-10 J. Winston 7/13 67 0 0 2-12 With Fitz lack of mobility I think it's a better match up.
Watched that game locally here in the Tampa area - Winston is not throwing the ball with any accuracy though it looks like his arm is strong. strange as it seems ... he may be benched anyway due to that provocation against a Saint while he was pulled out of the game on the sidelines late in the game. Not showing good leadership qualities.
I really hope Fitz starts. The Jets defense would feast. They have to be more pissed at that asshole than I am, right?
There is something wrong with the league if Evans doesn't get suspended. That was a major cheap shot, and then he threw at least 1 punch.
I agree - I think that there is no way that he isn't suspended. Winston could be too but I think he'll only get fined.
We may get Fitz next week, possibly minus Mike Evans and we may end up facing Paxton Lynch when we play Denver. The second half of the schedule is suddenly looking pretty favorable.
The Football gods must be involved for the Jets to be facing the Fitz. I would think the coaching staff knows all of Fitz's tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses. Yes the Jets can win this game. The Bucs 2nd ranked passing offense will not be the same. If the Jets can play like they did against the Bills, then they will be 5-5.
A few things to add: 1) Our beloved HC is apparently a BILL PARCELLS disciple or so we were told around the time he was hired. Parcells was the kind of guy that if you gave him a full bye week his team pretty much always played lights out against their opponent. Bowles is essentially getting 10 days, almost a full bye to get ready for a 2-6 team that is playing without their starting QB. If there's ANY truth to the Parcells legacy bestowed upon his underlings, the Jets SHOULD play very good against the Bucs. 2) The Jets played so well against the Bills, if the Jets can play even at 75% of what they were against the Bills, this game should be a walk in the park? 3) The Jets are actually a MORE talented team than the Bucs. Remember, odds are Winston and Evans will not play. So the Jets will NOT be facing the 4th ranked offense. They'll be facing some fraction of it led by Ryan Fitzpatrick. 4) The Jets have never really been a good road team under Bowles. If they are truly rebuilding and getting better by the week? This is a perfect opportunity for a young Jets team to prove to themselves that they can win on the road? Sure, they beat the Browns, but I think even the players figure that was no special feat? Winning road games matters in the overall scheme of things. This should be a good barometer for where this team stands if they are truly getting better? Far away from home against a bad team, but yet a rather unfamiliar foe........
All you had to do was check Bowles record to see that after lay offs of 10 or more days the Jets are 1-3 under him. They lost both games following a Thursday night game and split their games after the bye.
