I'm glad you can tell the outcome of games that were not played. Do you predict winners in advance with this much certainty?

The Jets had no chance to beat Denver or the Giants, just like the Jets had no chance to beat Cincy twice and SD in the 2009 playoffs or Indy and NE in the 2010 playoffs. Just like the Jets had no chance to beat the Colts in SB III or the Giants could not beat the Pat in the SB at the end of the 2007 season and I could go on and on ......

They play the games for a reason. Yes, it would have been unexpected for the Jets to win both games, but you don't know what would have happened. Stating that the Giants would have crushed the Jets (not us - last time I checked, you were not on the roster) is just a ridiculous statement to make.

If you are so certain, I say you start a prediction thread so we can all get rich from your picks this season.

Your excellent recap of the game caused me to wince reading it. It's never going away until we make it right and that starts with the # 1 seed and a run to the Super Bowl.

I think all 11 of our defenders had a chance to tackle him. I was at work when that happened and all I had at the time was the radio call. When I got home, and actually saw the replay, disgusted was an understatement.

That Ram team had a ton of talent but they stunk for some reason, you could see they were building something special on O but I agree it was a shock to see them win the way they did a year later.

I'm sorry if reality escapes you, we had absolutely no shot to beat the Giants. I didn't say we had no shot against Denver but it would have been very difficult on the road. That's just reality, if you want to pretend otherwise that is up to you, the game was very different in 1986 tha it is now and who said e not had shot to beat Cincy? NE and SD sure but I think most expected us to beat Cincy and have a great shot against Indy.

I know what would have happened b/c I live in reality. There's a reason we lost our last 6 games and a reason we choked away the Cle game- we weren't that good and we would have had a slim chance at den and no chance vs. the Giants.

These weren't predictions, as a kid I thought we could beat Denver and the Ginats but when you grow up and begin to understand this game better you realize the truth. as a kid I thought the Jets would win the SB every year and the Yanks the WS every year- I think it's time to grow up and started thinking like an adult.

"Would have" and "reality" are not the same. I could have won the lottery if I had played, but the reality is, I didn't, so no one knows for sure. You are speaking of personal opinion on something that never happened, not reality.

You guys continue to believe what you want to believe, anyone who knows anything about football in those days will tell the Jets wouldn't have had a shot. Denver wound up beating the same Browns team on the same field a week later, denver then got humiliated in the SB in a game where the Giants didn't even play well. We had very little shot at den, we had no shot against the Giants.

I think it's time to stop believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

    Again opinion, no facts.

You sound like Francessa...."If Peyton had played the entire game, no way the Jets would have won."

The difference there is that was only a 5 pt game, chances are we lose but we don't know for sure. The '86 Giants were a GREAT team, I can confidently say that we had no shot if we faced them.

One key point you guys fail to to recall is that we won w/ Pat Ryan against KC, we were leading early w/ Ryan against Cle. I don't know how long he was out for but O'Brien was shattered late in the year, what makes you think we could have beaten Denver IN Denver then beaten the Giants? They would have destroyed O'brien. Not only did the Giants enjoy a significant edge in talent it would have been Parcells & Belichick against Joe Walton w/ a shattered QB. yeah we we had a chance:rolleyes:

You play the game, you have a chance, you are stating everything as if it were fact.

That is all I am saying.

I thought the Jets had no shot in SBIII either?

What does SB III have to do w/ the 1986 Jets? It was a different time, people didn't know how good the AFL was becoming. In 1986 the AFC and NFC played each other, the NFC was in the midst of a domianting run over the AFC and was head and shoulders better than the AFC. The team that went on to win the AFC got crushed in the SB- why would it have been any different had we upset Denver then played the Giants?

I'm thinking logically not w/ my heart. I think we could have and would have beaten washington in '82, I think we would have beaten Atlanta in '98, I don't think we had a prayer to beat the Giants in '86.
