It's about the scenario. With less than a minute left and no timeouts Rex didn't want to blitz and let Ben complete a quick pass to his hot read. He'd much prefer Roethlisberger to hold onto the ball longer and go through his progressions to take more time off of the clock. For example on that second to last play, where Spaeth couldn't bring it in, the play took seven seconds and Ben was looking to complete a relatively short throw.

Even still you had the Steelers pinned deep in their zone NEEDING a TD to win it. You sent no one. Ben had all day long to pick you guys apart and damn near finished the job. I still think you should have been sending one or two.

All game, everytime Rapey was on the move, he made big plays, i.e. most of the 3rd down conversions he had. Our D stepped up huuuge when we needed them tho.

The Jets won this game by playing better football in the second half than Pittsburgh did. The Jets had 3 nice drives in the 2d half. On the first two they got a TD and then a FG.

On the third they changed field position and ate 4 minutes of clock which set up Weatherford's great 29 yd punt that pinned the Steelers and led to JT's safety. That sequence was a perfect example of all 3 phases of the Jets team playing well at a critical juncture.

In the final 2 minutes they couldn't quite get that 1st down to ice it and Ben did a great job down the stretch but the Jets D also rose to that occasion and ultimately prevailed.

For the Jets this was the best game they have played all season. Best win of the year and it was no fluke - they earned this 100%.

I'd like all you pessimistic, season is going to be a disaster, crybabies to go back and read some of the early posts in this thread. we had just come off two bad losses to NE and Miami ... so to all the faithless SOJ fans, that meant we had no shot in Pittsburgh ... we weren't a good team ... our offense sucks, we're not going to make the playoffs ... blah blah blah. just read some of the comments from these guys. unbelievable.

    sound familiar?

    this team doesn't suck.
it's a good football team ... just like the 2010 Jets were a good team.
we have the same core group this year. They didn't suddenly wake up two weeks ago and suck. a slow start after 4 games doesnt mean that the season is in the toilet!

The operative phrase here is "Past performance doesn't guarantee future success."

yes ... apparently we were the worst 9-4 team in the history of the league ... not good enough to make the playoffs ... until we won 2 of the last 3 and then everyone was squeezing back onto the SB bandwagon again. funny thing is, it was the same group of guys who sucked @ 9-4 ... and basically the same group of guys we have now.

show some faith in the team. they've come through for you before. when has Rex let the team collapse??
