I disagree, there are huge differences. In addition to the reads you have to make the coverage and cutback responsibilities are different. I don't think it's nearly as easy a transition as you seem to think it is.
Spags is my choice if we can't get Cowher, he devised a scheme to shut down the explosive Pats, enough said as far as I'm concerned.
Those very same players weren't the players until he got there. I didn't see the Giants winning anything before Spags got there.
Believe it or not I heard from multiple sources that Spagnuolo's SB42 gameplan was largely based on Mangini's gameplan in the 20-10 loss @ NE in 2006 (the only game which Brady didn't throw a TD). Ironic.
I believe this, for a while Mangini was saying that NFL offenses were focusing so strongly on edge rushers that interior pass rushing was now the best option. Still, I believe that if Brady was healthy they would have beat the Giants.
Spags D took apart the 16 and 0 Pats in the SB. They outright owned them for 60 minutes. Mangini's D was beatin to a pulp by the Colts, outright owned. The Pats are in our division and the one thing that was clear this year, they are still the best team in our division. Running BB defense to try and beat BB seems like a stretch to me and unfortunately as long as he is the HC in NE that is our No. 1 obstacle to the next level.
No we weren't, we were saying that we didn't know if that defense was his and because he followed Belichick every where he goes we took a gamble that he would be the next Belichick. We know exactly what we are getting from Spags when it comes to his abilities as a coordinator. Comparing the two are apples and oranges
