Hunter Smith was a 7th rounder and has punted for the Colts for years. Jim Finn was Mr. Irrelevant in 1999. Alvis Whitted and Ephraim Salaam were 7th rounders. Same for Chris Liwienski and Eric Warfield. Also Nate Wayne and Pat Tillman. and many more... most 7th rounders don't pan out, but some do, and you get a productive player for cheap.
7th rounders aren't much. I'm pretty sure Tillman and Wayne weren't 7th rounders, but I know that Jason Ferguson and Ryan Young both were. 7th rounders are basically first choice at UDFAs. Trading a 7th rounder for a player that can help us this year makes sense.
He was NOT "signed" we gave up a draft choice for a washed up player. What are the coaches for if we have to bring in players to "teach"? Are our coaches that bad is what you are saying?
For about 2 seconds, last I heard he's with the Pat's. He went there sometime the middle of last month if I recall correctly.
LMAO. So he basically crapped on Miami, to go north? Does he hope he will finally be a part of a title team up there? Good luck Junior, I think you missed the boat by a couple years.
some players learn better by both hearing from other players as well as seeing them perform in practice and on the field; something coaches can't teach because they don't actually play. understand? cheers
To give up a draft choice for a washed up player who was going to be CUT anyway surely reduces my faith in the wizards presently in Hempstead. He was terrible when he was with us 1st time around & never left a mark in the NFL. He will be even more terrible now
He did retire then decided to unretire when Belly came a calling. For someone who seems to be so into FB it suprises me this one got way past you
Fb? Football? I've seen you use it before, and I think at the time It couldn't have been football, fullback or fuzzybear.
Yeah, I did really miss that one. I tend pay much less attention to other teams when the news doesn't directly affect my teams. This surely does not affect the Jets in even a small amount. Seau was done before he left San Diego. Oh well, I missed it. Not like it is big news, but yeah, I missed it. I'm surprised Belli picked him up, unless it was just to dig into Saban.
Having spent most of the preseason there (Fins camp), he would have a decent idea at what they are doing, or trying to do come the start of the season. That may be about the only reason to pick him up.
I read that the pick we got for the Bolly trade is what was used to pick up Hamilton. It wasn't even a pick next year, but a 7th round pick in 2008 IIRC.
You know it's time for the season to start when a four page thread about Bobby Hamilton and seventh round picks arises. -X-
