Am I the only one who is not a huge fan of this move? Woody seemingly would have could back for not much above the minimum, and Ducasse should be ready to go by year 3. Why invest 13 million in Hunter when we don't know what Holmes/Braylon/Aso may want at the moment? I would have looked to solidify other needs before giving Hunter 13 million, although I would like to see how the contract breaks down and how much is owed this season, and guaranteed.
No dude. Damien Woody retired because he knows the Jets are going to lose Holmes, Edwards, and Cromartie to other teams. We're going 3-13 in 2011. Woody will sign with New England and he'll block the shit out of our OLBs for the next decade!
Yes, I know. Rob Turner needs to be re-signed- the trouble with that is he's demonstrated starter capability. We won't be able to bring him back at the minimum and he's been a solid asset. Hence the Taylor reference. We'll see what happens. Phew!!! That's a relief. Thanks for the update.
Yep and knowing Mr. T it probably costs about 300k against this years cap. If the Jets are in fact gonna pay him this money though then they expect him to be the starter and are comfortable with him there.
We've all seemed to overlook a serious problem: Brandon Moore will miss the start of training camp while he recovers from hip surgery. No one knows how long he'll be out. Hunter may see some time at guard if Moore misses time.
I like Wayne... more than Ducasse atleast lol I am looking forward to see how much Ducasse has improved from last year though can he beat out Slauson this year? maybe even take over RG?
This could also be an incentive to get Turner back under contract, or give Ducasse another shot at guard for a year.
+1. This is worrisome. After freaking out a little bit when I initially heard Meat had no idea when he'd be ready, however, I saw another comment from him that said something to the effect of "I'll be ready to go." Truth? Probably somewhere in between. I'd feel a lot better if Rob Turner were on this team.
That sucks to hear about big Wood. His comments about winning here being more meaningful than winning in New England was awesome.
Good move, kinda sad to see Woody go. I was critical of him at times, but I think he really stepped up under Rex. Best Wishes
Off-topic but I'd really like to see the Jets bring him back to the organization after he retires. Something like head of security.
His agents are the 2 douchebags that represent Revis. I would imagine he won't sign till the bitter end .
Turner has never been a starter but he's shown that he at least has the potential to start 16 games. It would be a smart move for him to wait until later in free agency before making a decision.
When he played center I didn't notice a drop off from Mangold to him. That's pretty amazing. I hope the bad relationship between his agents and the FO don't ruin him being resigned. Especially with Moore's injury.
