This is one of those moves that could make either team look really really bad by the end of of it all. God I hope it's not us. It's not off the field issues, it was demanding a new contract in Minnesota. Anything more than that is total speculation.
It's a conditional pick ranging from the 4th to 2nd round. Plus, there is no guaranteed money after this year. It's basically a Revis like deal that Tampa Bay had made with him.
too little too late dear God, I just hope he's healthy and can stay healthy great move though goodbye walter powell and saalim haakim on KO returns
"Heads I win, Tails I don't lose so much" type of trade. If doesn't work out, we lose a 4th rounder. If it does work out, we get one of the most explosive threats in the NFL, something teams give up more than a 1st rounder for regularly.
Let me sum this up the best I can...Percy Harvin is a Supremely talented man. A supremely talented man on his THIRD team in as many years...less actually. A team like Minnesota needs a guy like him and a Super Bowl contender should never be in the habit of throwing supremely talented guys out the freakin' window. No...there is a helluva lot more going on under the skin than meets the eye with this one.
Unless that was an option and Idzik chose Harvin between the two it is as relevant as saying you'd rather have Aaron Rogers.
Holmes has never, ever been the type of WR that Harvin is. If we take out Harvin's 1 catch 2013, even with all the injuries and missed time, Harvin has had more catches every single year of his career than ANY year of Holmes career, except for Santonio's anomaly 2009 season (79 catches). Harvin is a go-to, focal point WR. Holmes touched on that for a moment in time 5 years ago, but was not even remotely that guy on the whole.
My opinion besides the fact that he is old is that is injury prone. Bad trade in my opinion looks like we need to fill seats after the bye
Holmes did awesome for us. The biggest mistake we made(and frankly made with too many people) was guarantee his contract for too long. If Harvin doesn't work out, he won't make our 2016 roster.
It's just...<sigh> We have enough of a freak show going on here already without adding another clown.
I haven't read all the particulars but if what I'm hearing is true, that he has an $11 million cap hit, this is an asinine signing at this point in the season and with where we are in the standings .
Are you kidding me? He's twenty six, at least get the facts right, when expressing your dislike for this trade.
The Ivory deal I didn't mind but I agree the draft pick trading this team likes to have is frustrating. I can't remember the last time the Jets actually traded back on Draft Day.
