SF hasn't needed a thunder, nor did they when they went to the SB a few seasons ago. They had pure speed.
Their 2nd most productive rusher is 215. The RB they drafted on day 2 last year is 220. Their 200# aka lightning back was oft injured last year. Evidence points to them both wanting and needing thunder.
I have no problems with wanting thunder, that's why I listed potential RBs the Jets might want. I just remember when SF went to the SB and Mostert was killing GB and everyone else. No one could stop him.
1 week until we get to start filling in the roster with rookies. Really curious how this years draft will go… with those two high 2nd round picks, it’s almost like having four 1st Round picks. If the Jets are patient there will for sure be a few very good prospects who fall to round 2, meaning this can be a monster draft for them.
^^ agree 100% especially when one thinks some teams will reach for QBs in the first (who don't have first round grades). We'll have 4 picks with 1st round grades
As bad as I want a great WR for Zach, I'm starting to come around on the potential of holding off on WR until 35. Really gonna depend on how the top 9 picks go and who's there at 10 though. Imagine walking away from the 1st round with Thibs and Sauce? Defense becomes a lot better, very quickly.
not me If we don’t trade down from either pick, I want the two picks to be edge, OT, or WR. Two of those. I don’t want a S (glad that the Hamilton talk has certainly died down) and I doubt we take a CB…neither JD nor Saleh prioritize DB high. Second round…yes absolutely. But those two first rounders need to be more impact. I’d prefer either edge or OT at 4 and then WR at 10. and I don’t give a crap about these “value” discussions at WR…there WILL be a run on WR I think in the teens as teams like GB, KC and such have needs at WR for their QBs, and both teams have multiple first rounders. I don’t want to get too cute and end up with the 7th receiver because of bullshit like “so and so isn’t worth the 10 overall”, or “well, the top 7 guys are all the same and the guy at 35 will be almost as good as the guy at 10”. fuck that noise. Take your pick of the litter at 10 instead of waiting to see what falls to 35. Shit like that gets us Mims and the like. it frustrates me when our former GMs tried to get too cute and we end up with shit. JD can’t afford to miss on this draft. our corners held up ok…they’ll have more challenges now in the afc so not saying we don’t need help there, but a strong pass rush will help more. MY TWO CENTS…
It seems you’re more focused on positions than players. You also seem to assume the 7th WR take. Will be the 7th best WR in the league etc etc. I just read an ESPN article ranking teams draft results from the last decade. It’s no surprise the Jets ranked dead last overall and deal last with later round (4+) picks. It’s also no surprise 2021 was ranked our best (still low bc it’s only 1 year of production). It’s been widely accepted that Moore, based on his college tape would be the 2nd or 3rd ranked WR in this class. We got him at 34. That’s value. That’s how you build a team. Our CBs did hold up ok which is why I believe there is 0 chance we pick a CB btw picks 15-100.
This roster Is looking way fucking better than last year and we aren't even finished with the draft as of this posting. We actually look like a decent team on paper right now.
Posted this in another thread but the defense went from being a huge liability to actually being a pretty solid unit (on paper) in one offseason. Big kudos to JD on that one.
Updated for UDFA that I’ve seen. Jets have 94 including draft picks, means they’ll have to release a few vets as they start to sign their drafted players.
The Jets WR corps is now sneaky fast. The slowest of their top 5 receivers is Corey Davis who is probably a high 4.4 guy.
The same can be said for our cbs. I believe Echols is a 4.29, and a few others around 4.4. We are becoming a team with a lot of speed.
