honestly didn't hate them as much as I expected. The black over black and green over green were atrocious, but that's pretty much a given anyway. Lose the stupid wings on the shoulders and the "New York" on the breast plate and I think they're okay. Lachlan Edwards really sucked balls at times tho.
nice analysis. Agree with all save Edoga. He got abused early and often. Could improve but to me now looks like reserve at best.
He could just need time. If you watch the games he has flashes where he looks good and other time he looks really bad. Maybe with better guard play he improves. Also better coaching may help. Our whole line was bad this year so it hard to tell. His ceiling would be a decent rt, floor would be another MacIdiot pick.... that's a pretty big gap.
Great post G&C. You know what strikes me about this recap is the dud section. Our studs are "ok" and there are some promising things there but this 2019 dud list was so freaking bad its amazing. The kicker absolutely cost us one game and that's the Jet's fault imho but the fab-five of Enunwa, Mosley (bad luck with injury) and then Kalil, Osemele, Trumaine were not just duds.... More like disaster of biblical proportion or something. And really that's what sunk the Jets in 2019. If all those guys came through and played anywhere near up to their reasonable potential the Jets would probably have a game this Sunday to be honest.
I think Vycint Smith could be a decent player. He's gotten over the shock factor of catching NFL balls where he'd stop running once he caught it because he literally looked surprised he caught it. I don't see what you saw in Edoga at all. I think he looked awful. He got abused a lot. Not enough to dump the guy and maybe he can become a good right tackle or guard but early on he looked mismatched. I hope we don't abandon him like we have other lineman that could've at least been depth players. Vlad Ducasse, Oday Aboushi and Dakota Dozier were never world beaters but they all went on to at least be good sixth offensive lineman and spot starters. We need dudes like that.
I haven't seen enough of Smith on offense to say one way or ther other on him. Hopefully he gets some good preseason action this year. He has played very well on ST though and that alone warrants resigning him. I think Edoga had some decent play. Not a lot but it was there. And he was definitely better than Shell. He may end up being depth as you say, but we need plenty of that as well. Just need to let him develop. I hope we resign Hewitt, Jenkins, and maybe a few of our oline FAs. I just think the o line as a whole needs an overhaul. I could see keeping Lewis and Beachum. Outside of that and Edoga its very iffy. Cut Winters, Tru, Enunwa (Any savings here?), and some other bad choices. Try to trade Williamson, if not I would say keep him. Then target Scherfs and do a price check on Conklin. Pick up one of the middle pack of CBs (Mackenzie and Waynes I would like to see if either could develop into being worth the high picks spent on them). And 2nd tier edge. Also a WR or 2.
I think Waynes will break the back. Mackenzie Alexander could be a nice find though. He was the backup there I believe and filled in decently when called upon. It's going to be an extremely competitive cornerback market. There are so many solid players available.
Yes, I see now, bit ambiguous in the wording though lol yes Myers wasn't a miss at the price he was paid that's for sure and not even sure what Roberts did in the return game this season either for that matter.
Maye has been very solid as the deep guy in the Jet's defense. He's one of the major reasons the Jets give up so few long plays at this point. He's also the guy who covers for Adams blitzes and great box play.
He's just bad at attacking the ball unfortunately. He had a great game vs. Pittsburgh but he really stands to become better at breaking up passes. Outside of that, I agree though. He plays the Devin McCourty role of no big plays very well. And he's a good tackler down the field.
