He had a huge drop in the Ravens game.... he has always been very reliable but today was something I would have expected out a rookie FA in preseason not a guy who has been in the league for 6 years.
Alternative thread ideas: - Nick Manhold - The Darrelle We Miss - Santoninohands Holmes - Dusted Keller
I only recall 1 in the Ravens game, which is the one I was referring to. If he had another, I don't remember it. So, he had 2 in the first six games. Not 3 a game like you are implying, champ.
I cannot figure out what has happened to him this year. With Edwards, Holmes and Keller on the team you know he isn't going to get targeted as much as in the past, but he has NOT made the most of his opportunities. Today he was targeted in every way possible and probably had his worst game as a Jet. But he has not been very good in any game this year. Something needs to be fixed...
Has Holmes really been all that great so far himself? All I heard about the guy was he never drops passes and he had a couple of drops in the preseason, a fumble in Denver and another couple of drops today.
He has made some good plays for us and he was the guy who got that PI call in the Bronco game but I agree he hasn't quite lived up to expectations. Granted it's only a small sample but His drops have all been killers.
Whether or not Holmes starts depends on how much of the offensive playbook he's managed to grasp. Let's not forget how J-Co would make sure that Santonio knew exactly which route he'd be running on the play after every huddle in the DEN game.
Sat in the cold through that miserable shit and here is what I want to say, then I can't take the negativity on this board for the next couple of days: 1) It's still too early to talk seeding... 2) For some reason, we have a history of sucking after a bye. 3) But that said, championship contenders rarely lay eggs, especially in their own building so no, we are not as good as we think we are. 4) If we win the next 2 or even 4 (no gimme) this board will be back to it's cocky self again. (Not everybody, but many) 5) It's only game 7. Can't get too high, can't get too low. Still a lot of games. 6) Considering we are two fortunate plays (Harvin incompletion, Santonio P/I) from being 3-4, I have to hold my nose and say 5-2 is still OK.
agreed. +1 with the bye issue too. Jags game was after the bye last year and team looked flat too, and lost 2 straight after the bye last yr. Cotch spent this past bye week on the beach in puerto rico and looks like his head was still there today. No more mid-season vacations IMO.
He is rusty from not being targeted that much and it showed. Cotchery lost a lot of targets to Edwards and Keller. Now Holmes is taking away a lot of his opportunities too. That said..there were some catchable balls he needs to bring in for the team.
What I really hate is that we're looking at the same offensive pattern as 2008. One receiving option is getting a bunch of targets for a couple of weeks and then disappears. Keller was on fire for the first couple of weeks and now he's lucky to get 2 catches/game. He hasn't had more than 3 catches for the past 3 games, and he hasn't over 30 yards since week 3. We've never been good at consistently targeting playmakers in our offense under Schottenheimer. For a while he had an excuse where the best receiver Schottenheimer was the dried out husk of Laveranues Coles but there's no fucking excuse anymore.
He went to Stonetonio early and he dropped 2 easy passes. Then he started targeting Greene and LT and they both dropped passes. Then Schotty/Sanchez targeted Droppery and he dropped them too. They hardly got any throws to Keller and Braylon. Maybe that is where they fucked up. Yeah Schotty made some bad calls but this game is on more than just bad play calling. Shit the Jets win this fucking game if some of these drops didn't happen. Notice I said some. Drops happen in every game. The amount and importance of them today was just staggering. I can not explain it, other than the 6 days off. Rex has not won a bye week game. That is beyond awful. I am sorry but even coaches worse than mediocre (Mangini) have never lost a bye week game. So you can say fire Schotty, cut this guy and cut that guy or bench them. The fact remains this game is on every player and coach save the 11 guys on D.
Here's the thing Cato...this is precisely what the Saints do (which is also why I avoid all Saints except Brees in fantasy). The opposing team can't gameplan for a specific player. I was explaining this to one of my friends...one week Colston has 8 rec for 120 yards...the next week D. Henderson blows up...the next week L. Moore blows up...the next week Meachem blows up...then it goes back to Colston, etc. Sanchez was just playing the hand he was dealt yesterday. Cotchery should be disappointed for dropping passes which hit his hands...however the Packers' defender should be even more disappointed for consistently letting a 3rd WR break free the whole game.
