Agreed, this is definitely a make or break year. It's also a clean slate for some players, Cotchery being one of them, I'd say the same for Jolley and a few others. Let's see how these guys can do in a new system, new O-coord, and with coaches who don't give a damm about seniority and only care about true performance.

I'd say that your statement about our receivers corps is pretty damm accurate. I'd also love to have you eating crow about Cotchery by the end of this season. Only time will tell.

It's not impressive what it does indicate is we didn't throw the ball to the slot reciever. Could be do to the OL, could have been do to the inexperienced QB and they didn't run a lot of 3 WR sets, could have been for several reasons having nothing to do with Cotch including having a QB who couldn't go through progressions.

Troy Williamson was also the #7 pick of the draft. He'd better get more opportunaties than Cotch but Troy also couldnt beat out Burleson or Robinson for a starting spot.

Wrong again. You can't say that the guy "can't beat out McCarrins or Chrebet," he wasn't given a chance. Remember in training camp 2 years ago, all you read in the papers every day was how Cotchery in particular was impressing GERM- then when push comes to shove, and it means giving a vet time on the bench, Germ's testicles go back inside his body and he sits the promising rookie.

He looked pretty fast when he toook one to the house on a KR. He was the best returner on the team and when he was given the chance made some good playes on O. He never got as many playes as he should have, he deserves more PT.

Though in his first year he barely dropped anything so who's to say an injury can't affect how you position your body or how you react out of a turn when the ball hits your hands. Plus 5 different QBs doesn't help either.

I think people overestimate the "deep threat". Both Coles and JMac can go deep. They aren't "burners" but they can beat people deep. Having a fast guy who can only go deep doesn't help either because teams can adjust for that. You beat teams by mixing things up and getting by the defenders when they're not expecting it. We also signed Tim Dwight who has speed and I believe some of the younger receivers do too even though they are raw.
