I'm surprised the early October storm in the late 80's didn't make that list. Mid Hudson valley area. We had several inches of ice and snow that took down trees and power lines. No power for a week, and we were lucky. I had plenty of friends that had no power for 2+ weeks. Oh, to shower under the corner of the house again. Memories. Good luck everyone still out there. If this is for real there will be significant power outages.
6"-8" out here in SE Pa. Thank goodness I got my Ariens when I did. Had a feeling this was gonna be a freaky winter. Just didn't expect it this early. Kinda ruined my fall fishing plans..
the storm will be well over and done with by then. tough to say conditions. With the warm ground...this will be one of those over and outs. the roads will be fine in a matter of hours I would think.
Just checked out the 3am models and all I can say is holy shit. Holy Shit. Cakes...beware of Edison NJ now...because thats right around where the fighting ground between an all out borderline blizzard at times and a heavy mix will occur. Areas north and west of i95 are going to get crushed with close to 10 inches of snow...some places over a foot. This will be one of the most historic snow storms on record obviously because the time of the year...but if this storm would have happened in January, it would be too shabby either. The models are almost laughable because their totals are much more than a foot...but because of the temps/time of year..the snow ratios will be 7 or 8 to 1 compared to over 10 to 1 during a normal snow storm. Around 5pm..right in the middle when this thing gets cranking...people are going to be wondering how the hell this is happening 2 days before halloween.
Almost 5-6 inch of rain from the no where... I prefer hurricanes to tropical depressions.... Wind > Heavy Rain.
All the news are going ape-shit about this, like we've never gotten a Nor'Easter before. Jeez, they hype everything now.
Ok....I admit, this is weird. Snowing like a MOTHERFUCKER on Long Island right now. I thought it wouldn't snow until tonight?
I've been staying in a cabin just outside of the Smokies this week, up near the top of a 2600' hill called Bluff Mountain. It rained steadily the past 2 days, and it was chilly, but the thought of snow never occured to me until I checked in here this morning. And I thought my day was ruined yesterday (hiking in the rain isn't all its cracked up to be, I'm lucky I don't have pneumonia) still, seeing snow and fall colors mixed would have been a special treat. I'm pretty sure the trees are bare up there, but its just glorious here in east Tennessee. Stay safe, stock up. Its looks like another long winter.
