This is my concern,,,,,the canals were specifically put there for bad storms / hurricanes. This is a hurricane but this is a special animal ! Any of you Florida guys that can add insight,,,,let me / us know
The direction concerns me with the canals. The storm is essentially pushing the water up the canals, defeating the purpose of them. @The Waterboy, this sound right?
Sounds right to me but i would worry just as much that the ground water level is already high so down there that the combination of the water being pushed up in there adding to the rain from the storm makes it a double dose of trouble water wise. They 'll also be on the stronger side of the storm with that track getting the highest winds.
And my daughter has her Florida Teacher Cert. Exam tomorrow and they refused to let her reschedule because she didn't give them 24 hour notice. Shit like this may make me go back to my old ways of taking care of business. Her house is in the A flood zone so she has to leave, I know it won't hit until late Saturday but people need time to get their self situated.
This is going to be a total disaster. I hope people are already in their cars and moving because if they get jammed up on 95 in a hurricane hundreds of people are going to die.
Miami is going to take a direct hit from a cat 5 storm, isn't it This is going to be a complete slaughter
They can't force her to take it but as it stands they are telling her she will not be refunded her $200 if she doesn't show up. She'll end up taking it since it is at 9 am, which still leaves time to get out of there, but she shouldn't have had to make that choice. She has 3 dogs, including a 200+ lb. mastiff, and a cat, to worry about getting out of there so even though she is taking the test, her mind will be elsewhere I am sure.
A just read on another site that there are currently 2 dozen construction cranes up in Miami,,,,,,that aint good
I'm so frightened for people down there. This is crazy. I'm trying to think positive that Irma will specifically blow the living shit out of the Church of Scientology Headquarters in Clearwater and then roll out to sea, but not gonna happen. This is going to be so bad.
Stayed up late last night to see where the Euro was and saw it still coming up the middle, woke up now to see the GFS in agreement but looks like it slowing down which will give people a little more time to get out of dodge. Turnpike and Interstate were bumper to bumper yesterday up in my neck of them woods so people did heed the warnings. I just hate that it's looking like a Sunday late night to Monday early morning, have to worry about middle of the night tornadoes.
