Jay considering the winter we have had I think everybody in the Northeast is ready for Spring. Besides another thing about Spring is the Yankees start up again. Hopefully they can win it all in the Captains last year.
thats my biggest problem too. and intersections have become more dicey with cars having to nose out to see around the piles
Would be a perfect ending Greg..hey question for you since you are a Yankee fan like myself...what do you think about these farewell tours? I didnt discuss it in the Yankee thread at all because I knew it would start a war when Mariano did it and now with Jeter doing it...how do you feel about these tours? I love the guy..love him...but couldnt he just announce it in September and have plenty of time for all the attention? Feel it takes away from the season. Im sure that will not be popular...but I am not crazy about these things.
Happened to me today FJF...I just couldnt see over a pile of snow an inched out and almost got rammed. By the end of next week with all that warm weather, piles should be manageable and hopefully viewable..lol.
I really don't have an opinion on the farewell tours one way or the other to be honest. I think Jeter will address it with media once as far as answering all their questions and then the focus will turn to the Yanks and helping them win a championship. As for the fans when they are home or on the road I could see Jeter acknowledge them with a tip of the cap or wave as a way of saying thanks but that's about it.
I hear you...good points. Jeter will be very classy about it...I just think every away game its going to be discussed at nausea. Hey...fitting to have a ring that last year. Hearing Pineda (spelling) is impressing this off-season...that would be a huge plus out of nowhere.
Where's the snow? On the ground in 49 of 50 states Snow is on the ground in 49 out of the 50 states — only the Sunshine State of Florida is completely snow-free, according to a map produced Thursday morning by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. (This doesn't mean that those 49 states are snow-covered, of course, only that some part of each state has snow.) Although this map doesn't show it, there is snow in Hawaii, where webcams are showing snow on the high peaks of the mountain volcanoes of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. HAWAII SNOW: Webcam from peak of volcano The map also doesn't include Alaska, but it's a given that most of that state is snow-covered this time of year. A quick check with the National Weather Service forecast office in Fairbanks found 19 inches of snow on the ground there. Latest maps on tomorrows storm. Again...very possible many get 4 to 6 out of this..and in the Poconos..looks like 8. Maybe...but regardless..its going to snow again...yuck?
and then the NAM...now whats interesting about this..and I think dead on..is how this thing explodes up by Cape Cod...huge numbers on this one..huge. Areas along the coast up there will have blizzard conditions.
FUCK THIS WHOLE FUCKING WINTER. This morning my car stuck in between 2 embankments , because my apartment plow guy didn't salt. My car had to be pulled out by AAA, and looked like Austin Powers golf cart.
Thanks for all the suggestions Guys! I'll get up there today and after clearing the downspouts, I'll drop plenty of salt in the gutters feeding those downspouts. I gotta knock down those snowpiles up there too though. They're approaching 18" now and I'm getting worried about the weight. I do have a heat gun and wifey has a hairdryer so we can definetly get those downpouts heated. Thanks again!
I just told my little guy we might get a few inches of snow today,,,he sys " oh no,,,,,,it's so high i can barely walk in it already ",,,,can't argue with the kid. What time is this event going to happen today,,start time anyone ?
Good luck with that, Cman. Not exactly the kind of project most of us look forward to on a Saturday. I don't think this is a good idea - but --> a friend of mine said they used to pour anti freeze into the gutters, back in the olden days. The problem is that the stuff is toxic, and depending on where your drains go, you could end up killing innocent plants and animals (the stuff is sweet to the taste). It could also make its way into the water table and well water. I vote no, unless you're in a serious jam, with water coming into your house. Personally, I'd stick with the heat gun, working my way up from the bottom, and the rock salt bombs in the socks, or pantyhose as FM mentioned. You could tape the heat gun to a pole, and make your way pretty high up the downspouts. If it makes you feel less alone, I just came in from clearing my frozen solid driveway opening, and digging the truck out for almost two hours. Now I'm heading to work.
It's snowing right now on 34th Street. Jay, anything you can do to make it stop is much appreciated. I've lived here all my life, and been through everything that came our way, but I'm am really getting tired of this.
Started snowing a little while ago,,,lite rite now,,,,,tv guys said earlier that it will come down until 8:30,,,,and moderate at times,,,we shall see
Unless this slow once it hits the coast really explodes fast..and starts to throw precip BACK our way...think it will end before that..would think before 6.now if its still going at 730, then thats what is happening.
snowing here too. i have convined my 7 y.o. daughter this is the beginning of the next ice age and we won't see green grass again. i am starting to wonder myself.
I don't know. I thiink this calls for more powerful measures than some finger snaps. Maybe we need Halle Berry from the X Men to whip up some sunshine.
