Good luck to all posters affected by Sandy. I've got a couple of rooms spare in the UK if you need a temporary home!
People of New York and the entrie east coast affected by this storm, my thoughts and prayers are with you today and all week. Be safe. Be well. Be with your loved ones until this passes.
Seaside has been completely destroyed... the roller coaster from casino pier has fallen into the ocean. The boardwalk was ripped to shreds and apparently parts of the log flume have fallen into the ocean as well. Silverton in Toms River has had homes wiped out. There are parts of Toms River along Fisher Blvd that have boats sitting in them. Cman- there are boats sitting in the street along Broadway in Pt Pleasant. Some are sitting on the traintracks along 35. I'm starting to see more and more pictures and this is insane. The damage and flooding in Mantoloking is so bad that as of a few hours ago they still couldn't even reach it.
Have family in breezy pt,Oceanside, and long beach. Hearing the horrible stories.their houses flooded, businesses flooded.
I saw a picture of some dumbass walking in neck high water with a snorkel on his head. He should probably have thought about what exactly he was about to dunk his head in, probably some nasty combination of sewer piss & feces, engine oil, dumpster juice, and whatever expired chemicals have been sitting in all those basements
I was born in Tom's River. My sister and her family still live in Brick. I worked for a long time in NYC. I moved to Florida 7 years ago. I'm staggered by these photos and stories my sister has told me. It seems more like something from a disaster movie than real life. I'm in shock. It's just heartbreaking.
They're saying don't use the tap water in Nassau County. I know we have a lot of posters on Long Island so hopefully they're safe.
I guess concentrated to Long Beach http://www.newsday.com/news/weather/hurricane-sandy-affects-long-beach-water-sewer-system-1.4169263
