As I have warned on my previous posts this evening I am pretty gased right now, lots of wine at dinner. My wife is pissed that I'm not watching American Idol with her, but to F-ing bad. To all you Cutler lovers ... have any of you watched his Highlight reel? Guys i hate to burst your little Cutler bubble but either he has no depth perception or his arm is not as advertised. Watch the damn video, if you know anything about NFL DB's then you know this guy will be an interception machine. Yeah, I know, that can be fixed. So can my dog. We don't need another Browning Nagle. Pass on the Cutler Project. Keep in mind those passes in the video are his HIGHLIGHTS !
Cutler stats for '05 COMP ATT YRDS PCT TDS INT 273 462 3073 59.1 21 9 He threw the ball 137 times more then Young and had one less INT also threw the ball 31 times more than Leinart and had one more INT!!! Doesn't look like a INT machine to me.
Everyone is so afraid that we are looking at Cutler due to the media hype, and his workouts. But let's keep in mind acouple of things... 1. This front office is not one to buy into any media hype of any kind. They also are not the kind of front office that makes decisions based completely on work outs. They look for Maturity, character and toughness above all else. 2. Cutler was considered a 1st round pick long before he participated in any workouts. He carried a sub par team on his back to some bigtime upsets in a blue chip conference. All the workouts did was solidify his stock. If he is our selection at any spot, it is b/c the front office thinks he is a smart, tough, mature individual w/ the ability to lead this team to a new era of winning.
To kick some dust back up... Todd McShay (of ESPN) has Cutler ranked the highest out of all the QBs in this years draft. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=4737
cutler played against much better defenses than leinart and young, combined! and, his team had a lot less talent around him.
What are we basing these rankings on? TV Personalities and Sportswriters? Any joe-shmo can say they are a draft expert, ala Mel Kiper. I'm not even saying that Cutler is bad. He is going to take time to develope and there are legit questions regarding his accuracy and decision-making. Why is it assumed that those things are easily corrected. Browning Nagle could throw the ball through a brick wall and played against some top competition at Louisville but that wasn't enough to translate into an NFL player. How does anyone know that the Jets are even considering Cutler, because they met with him and ate a damn steak. The Jets are positioning to make some kind of move and it probably does not involve Cutler, unless he falls to 29 and we still own that pick.
Any QB drafted will need time to develope. Completed 59.1% of his passes and only threw 9 INT on 462 ATT thats one INT for every 51 passes....what's wrong with his accuracy!!!
Cutler in 2005 vs Wake Forest 69.4 % 1 TD, 1 Int vs Richmond 70.0% 3 TD, 0 Int vs Mid Tenn 59.1 % 1 TD, 1 Int vs LSU 34.4% 0 TD, 2 Int
Also @South Carolina 339 yrds 55.1% 1TD 1 INT Florida 361 yrds 66.7% 4TD 2 INT Kentucky 395 yrds 59.1% 5 TD 0 INT @Tennessee 315 yrds 69.2% 3 TD 0 INT I still don't see how accuracy is a problem!
Maybe if I saw that Kentucky game I too would have a poster of Cutler over my bed. Now that we've tied all the stats together we can see that this guy has proven he deserves to be a day 1 pick in the draft, but the numbers hardly suggest him to be a Franchise QB worthy of a #4 pick. Perhaps #29
Don't have the poster over my bed or any poster of him, but that was good! What about the Fla. game against a top 20 team. I agree that he's a day 1 pick and probably not at 4, but if our FO thinks he is then thats fine with me. I just don't see accuracy as his problem.
he also played a pretty damn good game against the south carolina gamecocks last season who had 2 1st rd talents in their d-back field (cb john joseph and s ko simpson) i was at that game, and believe me he single handedly kept vanderbilt even in that game....making some ridiculous throws from the pocket and improvising after getting rushed time and time again.....he really looked like a young brett favre
Jaworski studied the films, and he says Cutler will be a better NFL QB than either Leinart or Young.... but, I'm impressed, you are drunk, so you must be right. Go take a nap.... a looooong nap.
We need a strong armed QB to build around. I would'nt mind tradng down, but you grab Cutler if you can. We'll see,
Cutler wasn't playing against NFL DBs in 2005, now was he? INTs will definitely be one trait he shares with Favre
I agree. I also wouldn't be shocked if the Lions scooped him up at 9 either (I know they've got like 6 qb's on the roster, but remember, this IS Matt Millen we're talking about). IMO I think if Leinart and Mario Williams are gone by 4, the Jets should seriously consider a trade down. Teams like the Ravens or Cardinals may want to jump ahead of Oakland and scoop up Young or Cutler. We could end up getting some nice compensation given that scenario.
At one point he went 167 passes without an interception..plus he didn't have any NFL WRs to throw to. We don't know how many of those INTs are his mistakes or a WR not running the correct route, or falling down when the ball is thrown, or one that couldn't catch a COLD!! I just tired of people saying that he throws too many INTs when all the numbers point the opposite way! I would prefer him over the other QBs in the draft!!! (JMO) Here's a good article in the USAtoday about Cutler: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/draft/2006-04-18-cutler-cover_x.htm
Hi all.. Noob, but I have lurked for a while.... I've been a Jets fan for longer than most of you have been alive. I'd love to see Jay Cutler in green and white. It gives the game a different dimension with a strong armed qb. You never feel like your out of a game. The last time Jets fans felt that way was Namath.... or maybe Kenny O'Brien and Westley Walker. Now with Penny, if we are 10 pts down, I'm going "Oh Crap!!" A young Bret Farve? I'll take him, interceptions and all!!!!
