1. I remember reading that 31% clause from somewhere (nfl or nj.com) I will see if I can find it. 2. What's the point of picking up Gholston? Jets are thin on DL? How does that improve the squad? You are not making any fucking sense?
Wasn't Sanchez always 3rd behind Schotty and Hunter? A combination of appeasing the fanbase, getting upside back for a guy who was probably not going to be redeemed in the eyes of the fan base. He was bad, but especially bad in context to the offensive line we had the past two years.
You're probably right about Sparano. I do think the Rams are trolling the Jets with Gholston and Hunter. Then again, I've always thought the Rams were trying to troll the Jets since Mike Martz called an onside kick up 31-7 in the 4th quarter in 2001. Trung Canidate???
Dolphins fans did say expect a lot of field goals when the Jets hired him.....and its all we have gotten so far. So he would be my guess at next target. Sanchez has played good this preseason, so I doubt its him unless he takes a step back, but I expect him to take a step forward instead.
anyone notice how the Rams have been signing all of our scraps? Mulligan, Gholston, Hunter, Clemens and Schottenheimer is heading the offense.
Adam Schein says Smith is worse than Hunter. Asinine. New Yawk cynicism makes people retarded, at times. Bust or not, he's better than Hunter by every objective measure.
Honestly after watching Hunter over the past year, I don't think it's possible for a starting tackle in the NFL to be worse than him. He's simply god-awful.
This No way could Smith be any worse than this guy. This guy was on par or even worse than Adrian Clarke/Anthony Clement.
The reports about Hunter having to be restrained from going after critical fans shines a whole new light on his attack on Holmes in Miami. Less people's champ and more rageoholic madman.
1. OK. 2. I used Gholston as an example. He's not even a FA in case you didn't notice. You don't just continue to pick up a young player, who has been a bust all along, in hopes he'd be the next Maybin, especially when its an OL from the Rams. You said trading away an old turd for a young turd is good. I said they are both turds, why pay the extra 50% salary?
It's funny how everyone knew how crappy Wayne Hunter was, yet it was the Jets who actually believed he'd amount to something.
Its the classic "change of scenery" argument with the new offensive scheme in town. The same argument is being made for Jason Smith too now. Wasn't a fan in March and not a fan of it now either. Again, for the additional $1.5 mil we paid Smith, I think we should have waited for all the cuts to come in and then picked up a RT worth keeping. a few surprise cuts are ALWAYS in the mix.
"According to two sources, Hunter screamed at some fans who were heckling him late in Sunday’s game. It got so bad, the sources said, teammate Vlad Ducasse had to restrain Hunter from going after the fans. Although I agree Jason might be marginally better than Hunter, but like most others have mentioned here, everyone with any starting experience is better than Hunter. Even Howard who has just one start in his career.
Ugh, as much as we blame the players (Hunter), just as much blame goes to Tanny and Rex. After Hunter's performance as a full time starter last season, the RT position SHOULD HAVE been our #1 priority this offseason. Bottom line.
