I still wouldn't mind drafting Dion Jordan even if we get Barnes and Butler. Jordan can cover lots of ground.
This is reminding me of a boxing match. I'm loving this!! Idzik is taking the shots and gauging the market. Taking shots. Taking shots. Just waiting while everyone overpays the big time names. We are laying in wait. Just give it a second. We will strike
2014 seems like the year we are going to be forces in the draft...We should get back either a 4th or 5th from Greene, either Keller or Moore should land us a 5th in compensation to go along with the Landry pick. Granted none of these can be traded but if we do make a trade up for Bridgewater/Manziel....we have at least 3 picks in compensation I figure to help out. We HAVE TO trade down from 9 this year though to get like 2 extra picks. We need to come away with 10 players who stick on the Jets roster from this draft.
Sort of sad that he left, the guy left it all on the field. I remember Butt-Fumble game in which he got a strip interception in the second half. That being said, most of you said 'BLOW IT UP'. We're blowing it up, yet there are still complaints. We're just going to have to build through the draft and get younger players. We get younger players, we're more of a position to compete in a longer window.
Totally agree with this. There are plenty of options that can be signed as stop gap players once the spenders are gone and the market still has a lot of players. I have said it 10x the teams that spend big time never win.
but that requires being patient! while this is disappointing I'm not ready to call this team doomed, or even say they're intentionally tanking. I believe they're addressing a poor reality and trying to make the best of it by not overpaying one person above dealing with other problems as a whole. that seems to be the reality, and I think it might bring the team better reward than not.
Fair enough, but we are looking epic-ly bad at this point. Other than JAX, it's hard to find a team even close to as untalented as we are. We have literally nothing at this point to look forward to. Limited picks and a horrible draft pool this year - MetLife is going to be a dreary place this year.
Why no effort to sign him idzik?.... Why? OK letting bell go whatever... but Landry???? Atleast try!!!
What's as bad as all of this. The jets really are packing it in, Rex Ryan is a lame duck coach. Everyone is leaving and its obvious that the organization could care less about anything he thinks, they have shredded the defense. This is going to be a long miserable year. Not attempting to resign Landry or devito speaks volumes of where they are going.
Love it. We are not over paying for short term talent. We are stealing a page from New England. How did over paying like crazy for a CB worked for Philly? We are looking into the future, we need to deal with some suffering in 2013 and 2014. Finally a GM with balls and not worrying about the press BS and near term criticism.
Who said we didn't try? Landry, while great, has plenty of injury concerns. As a rebuilding team with limited cap space, we didnt have much of a choice.
Yes it does. It says enough with the old regime bullshit. It's time to build from the ground up. Bite the bullet and move on. This is a major transition year. We will not overpay for limited talent.
Why is this a surprise to any of you people? Players are running away from this team as its loaded with a garbage offense and the defense know they have no shot here
Agreed. I'd love to maybe get a 2014 2nd and 2013 4th for a trade from let's say 9 to 15 with the Saints for them to acquire someone like Jordan. And from there draft Cooper ( yes, somewhat of a pipedream, I know.)
