you usually tend to put the better run blocker of your two T's on the right and better pass blocker on the left. being that qb's are traditionally right handed hence the blind side is on the left.

then again a lefty qb could reverse that whole standpoint. brick couldnt play RT. it takes more of a road grader mentality since LT's are usually asked to seal the pocket or contain on a running lane. RT's usually also are expected to make second level blocks more often since theres usually a TE to chip off next to him.

theyre not SEVERELY different as long as the OT your considering for the change is a great all around player. Jake Long could play RT, brick couldnt. if thats the answer ur looking for.

Are you serious "dump Ferguson" although not a total stud at lt, how do you know Long will be better and furthermore I would rather have Moore at rg than Woody who got benched by the Lions dismal line at rg

I know this year seems to be sort of weak, too, but who are the best of the crop for next year, anyhow?

there have to be some players on the OL that dont make a ton of money every year. i really dont think you need the highest paid guard, a top 5 pick an early 2nd and a guy you just paid tackle money to play guard only to pick up another top 10 OL there has to be someone on the line that is not costing a ton of money. i would really really dislike this guy getting picked by us in the 1st as its just completely unneccesary. now if you wanted to use the 2nd round pick on someone i wouldnt be as unhappy with it but i wouldnt want to spend a 1st or 2nd on a right tackle, its just not worth losing out on a potentially great player and spending a HUGE amount of money on that postion.

    alleycat,

Jake Long would be one of the most surefire good players at his position. There would be no missing out.

Regarding the O-Line as a unit, ours was dismal last year. Do you want an adequate one or a dominant one? I want our guys to be tossing some DLinemen in the dirt. I want jake long!

i just dont see paying every guy on our line a huge contract, there has to be at least 1 guy who is not a big money guy on the OL, i am not going to look at the money we have invested in the line at this point but i think our line is quite a bit more than serviceable, if its not then you can go complain to tannenbaum for signing woody.

you just cant tie up that kind of money there, especially on a right tackle especially after you just spent money on a right tackle, granted he has played more guard than tackle but he was signed as a tackle. he is the best tackle in the draft but he is not a big time LT that you typically seen drafted high in the 1st round. RT is not a top 5 pick and that is what he projects to be.

i am with you that you need to have a good line in order to be able to win, but you cant have an all pro at every position on the line it just doesnt make sense monetarily. if you spend all that money on the line you wont be able to pay for a qb to play behind it.

so no its not like he is a bad pick there i just dont like it for the jets at this point
