I saw these comments. I don’t take them as arrogance or blaming prior coaches even a little bit. He’s saying they’re going to give him a shot at being a QB and not a glorified RB. I don’t even see him say it’s gonna work. What I do see him say is they’re gonna surround him with people that can help him and they did. The OL is playing very well, high end RB, receivers are getting open which means the WRs and OC are doing their job. No clue how that comes off as arrogant or bashing other coaches.
The last time I was fully invested in the Jets was before they hired Gase, I mostly just laugh at them now. But since this thread has taken a Fields turn, if this Jets team had the 2022 defense, they'd have beaten the Patriots 14-13 and people would be talking him up.
For shits and giggles I just watched Brady Cook's highlight video. He looks like a pretty good athlete that can also run with the ball. Put him in and see if he can be a viable backup in this league. Low risk/high reward at this point.
I'm beginning to think that it's the optics of a non-drafted QB outplaying a $40M FA. They would much rather have TT come in and save the season than having Cook come in and prove they could have spent that cash better. Woody probably is doing a slow burn and it wouldn't surprise me if he's behind Fields not being benched.
I would go with #3. But I also have to ask: why is Tyrod Taylor even on this team? He's been kicking around the league since 2011 without accomplishing much. I thought we were trying to get a good young nucleus of players going, he doesn't really fit. Ron
