Don't you agree that the earlier meeting between the 2 teams is meaningless? Just like the earlier meeting between the Jets and Pats. You won that game and it will give the Jets confidence to know that they can win in Pittsburgh but that outcome has nothing to do with the game being played Sunday. Troy and Miller playing make a difference for the Steelers just like I think Brad Smith makes for the Jets. I also don't place any credence in some stupid poll. The Jets went into Indy and knocked off Manning and followed that up by going to NE and beating Brady. I don't think anybody can not take the Jets seriously. In my book the game is pretty even ... maybe with the steelers having a little edge from home field. Whoever wins will represent the AFC very well IMHO.
Of course the first is game is meaningless once the ball is kicked off. It isn't meaningless for us as fans discussing the game because it is pretty good indication that the Jets can win this game. That game shows that going into Heinz Field with all the chips pushed into the middle is not an impossible task. If the Jets don't win that game they might not even be in the playoffs right now.

I sense an increasing percentage of Jet fans now see the upside of being disrespected by others. We should never respect their opinions in the first place. Good.
That has been the same for the Steelers this year also. Between the suspension BS with Ben, the fines, and personal foul penalties they adopted the 'Us Against Them' mentality. It seems to have made them a closer knit team. I don't think the Steelers feel they can't handle the Jets coming to town.

Somehow the Jets seem the last couple of games to have addressed two big weaknesses that were of concern to us around the time of the first game, which were lack of pass coverage in the middle of the field, where tight ends and slanting receivers go to work, and of an effective pass rush. And oh yeah, Sanchez being inconsistent. Are we as concerned about that now? Not so much, based on their recent play. Obviously with Miller present, lack of good pass coverage in the middle of the field would have been much more of a problem for the Jets. It may still end up being a way Pitt makes good plays. But we are less concerned about that now.
