This thread and the Sanchez bashing are ridiculous. He is not only a rookie, but he came out a year early. He has got to be given time to develop. The fans blaming Sanchez are the same ones who ran Pennington out of town because he didn't have a big arm and couldn't make big plays against good teams. Now its the turnovers. If you want the Jets to win a SB, the team needs a good QB. If Pennington wasn't the answer, Clemens isn't the answer to anything, and Favre didn't want to be here (and is an asshole anyway - watch the Vikings crumble as Peterson continues to play a reduced role), then what would you have this team do? Go all in on Jeff Garcia? Byron Leftwich? There is a reason why guys like that are not playing this year. The Jets made a decision to find a franchise QB this year. The kid is 23 years old. Give him a chance to grow up before you throw him and Tanny under the bus. And, by the way, of the Jets 7 losses this year, three came with the defense giving up a score with less than a minute to play (Miami, Jacksonville, Atlanta), and one came because the kickoff coverage team couldn't stop Ted Ginn (Miami). The whole team stunk against the Pats. The kid cost us two games - New Orleans and Buffalo. The Buffalo game should have been in the bag if the CS put the wraps on Sanchez like they did with Clemens against the Bucs. Sanchez is not the only or main reason for the 7 losses. It has been a team effort. Let's see how he plays over the next two years before a decision is made.
This thread is just going around in endless circles- We all want to see improvement, and we all want to win the lotto too. You are right it is WAY too early to pass any judgement on Sanchez, we just have to wait and see. I for one think he'll turn out to be great once he gets settles and the game slows down for him.
Also maybe he can add in a few useless stats, and complain about the most visible thing and you can stamp it with your approval. I love how you present fragments of reality as the entire story. There's a reason most people don't agree with you.
It's pointless to argue with some of these people. This is the same crowd who probably turned on Chad after the Oakland playoff game, they've now decided they hate Sanchez and everything for the next ten years will be his fault.
I think you're just mistaking frustration with bashing. We all want the guy to develop and we all understood there would be struggles. It's not unreasonable to think he'd be over some of the bad mistakes by now though. Rex Ryan said it himself on Monday.
Not when the direction he was going in has been changed numerous times now, not to mention the receiving group has changed as well as old #29. He's not been given the chance to develop a ton of chemistry, due to injuries and new players added and old players being removed.
Why is our offense either a run or 20 yard pass ? What happened to the screen passes, even without LW ? What about quick-outs ? What about 7-8 yard passes in the flat or over the middle ?
This is where Keller is not being utilized properly. He has the skills they just need to call the plays, you are 100% correct! I nice bubble screen, or that route out of the BF from Woodhead would open things up for sure.
I agree and I'm not absolving Sanchez of responsibility, but it's a bit early to be bitching that he's not making progress. Other teams gather film and adjust throughout the year, so it's harder, not easier, than it was for him in Week 1. Not to mention he doesn't have Leon Washington who is an important cog in the offense and a guy they relyed on to say the least. After he goes through an entire off-season, has time to digest everything, goes through another camp, let's see what he does with that base of knowledge next year. If there is no progress then you can start complaining he's not making progress. He played 16 games in college, now he's learning on the fly at the highest level, in the biggest spotlight, on a team expected to be a contender. Not many rookies have to deal with all that.
How are they useless? All you do is bitch without making any argument in response based on anything. Stats are part of the fact based world you don't seem comfortable dealing with. You'd rather this was just a message board filled with hopeful expressions and no dissension. Make your arguments based on real analysis or STFU. And by the way, in case this never occurred to you, this is not a democracy or popularity contest, either. That other people don't agree with me, or do, for that matter, hardly makes them right. Plenty of people here are quite obviously reluctant to see issues without emotion, such as yourself. OF COURSE you disagree with me. I frankly prefer that you do, given where you are coming from. Have a nice day agreeing with IS.
Oh go cry in your beer you miserable little man. You've been bitching about nonsense since day one. You're right, it's not you, it's everyone else. If you knew your ass from a hole in the ground about football you wouldn't be all over the guy. You'd know that there's a lot going on and everyone except for you knew it was going to be a rough year for him IF THEY DIDN'T RUN PREDOMINANTLY. Which they said they would do, but didn't. You're an idiot.
Oh and here's a great quote for you, genius: In 62 games under Schottenheimer, the Jets' quarterbacks (Pennington, Sanchez, Kellen Clemens and Brett Favre) have combined for 73 interceptions. Maybe you should adjust where your blame is going.
Just out of curiosity, I did an analysis of those guys that have other OC's on their stat sheet.' 2006 Chad .032 int./attempt 2008 Chad .014 int./attempt...less than half, post-Schoddy 2008 Burt .042 int./attempt 2009 Burt .015 int./attempt...almost one third, post-Schoddy 2008 Sancho .027 int./attempt 2009 Sancho .060 int./attempt...more than doubled under Schoddy 2006 Chad 64.5 comp %-age 2008 Chad 67.4 comp %-age...numbers go up, post-Schoddy 2008 Burt 65.7 comp %-age 2009 Burt 67.8 comp %-age...numbers go up, post-Schoddy 2008 Sancho 65.8 comp %-age 2009 Sancho 53.5 comp %-age...numbers go down under Schoddy This pretender of an OC has enough of a track record to show that he consistently puts his QB's in a position to fail.
I don't understand why off the point posts like this one from Johnny are not considered personal attacks by the mods here. They contribute nothing to the analysis and discussion.
I was wondering why the Jets receivers don't seem to get much separation..guess that explains it. Great thing is he'll learn and get better.
Sanchez played one of his best games against the Colts and displayed the kind of progression I was waiting for. Another performance like that and I say he gets a , "Mark Sanchez Appreciation" thread. Threw strikes, displayed his strong arm and made decisions that didn't make me want to gouge my eyes out with an ice pick. Way to go Mark, keep up the good work.
