You're better off waiting till Saturday to get a ticket on CL, trust me. Millions of "fans" are going to be dumping their tickets because they have work the next day. It's just how this fanbase is.
This is kind of how I feel. If they can take the edge of hype out of the equation that comes with nationally televised night games, it certainly won't hurt. Not that I think this team has a prayer in the playoffs, but any advantage should be seized.
I think this situation smells more like when the Jets backed into the playoffs under Herm, except worse. Herm's team at least had to win tough games to get in. The Jets will end up beating two different preseason teams in order to back in. I would love to face the Patriots in round one if for no other purpose than for our defense to hit the hell out of Brady and make him play in pain.
Should we decline the playoff spot if we win? Either you win the games you have to win to get in or you don't. if we win Sunday we deserve it no matter what the circumstances.
Cimini had printed that RR plan was to knock PM down enough to frighten the Colts in to fearing that he may be hurt. While we did not sack him we DID knock him down several times (at least 4 that I remember) & those knockdowns may have solidified the Colts HC decision to close the book on Manning in that game. So if Cimini's is correct the RR theory worked perfectly & then U can say we actually knocked PM out of the game
The only way we have a shot in the playoffs is if Sanchez can get back into a hot streak like he had to start the season. I wouldn't count on it, but he has been very streaky and I don't think it's out of the question. It really is going to come down to our passing game if we do get in though. The only other way I could see us making noise is if our defense suddenly becomes a scoring machine.
Of course not. But there are teams that end the season with momentum, beating strong teams and contending. And then there are teams that you just know do not have it together and will be one and out, or maybe surprise some team with a win before they exit. We do not have enough going on with our offense to contend. Do you think that if the Patriots had our record and were in the Jets' situation, playing the Colts last Sunday to stay alive, that Indy would have sat their starters in the 3rd quarter and handed the game to Belichick? I think this team has a future now, and I think the playoffs would be good experience for both Rex and Sanchez, but I have no illusions about their chances, or how they got there.
That occurred to me before the game, and it looked like the Jets were really going after Manning, although the blocking was really good and he didn't get hit half as much as he should have, If I am Jim Caldwell, seeing our safeties flying at their HOF quarterback would make my decision a lot easier to get him out of that game.
Only on this board. According to posters here we've backed in just about every time we've made it, even though in 2006 we had to win our last two games and in 2002 we rallied from 2-5 and won our last two games. It's based on your credentials after 16 games, including Week 1 all the way through, which is the way it should be. Some people don't like that, that's too bad.
We have a great shot to beat Cincy in the WC round if we win. Did the Giants have momentum 2 years ago? Arizona last year? Us in 2004?(obnviosuly we didn't make it as far as those 2 teams but we were a kick away from the title game). Yes I think if they played NE they would have sat Manning down- probably sooner. I'm not worried about winning in postseason, I want to get there. I agree I thionk our future is bright and getting a taste will be a big benefit for us in the coming years but let's just get there first and enjoy that. Playoff apps don't come around too often. as far as momentum, if we win Sunday we will have won 5 of 6 to get in w/ the lone loss coming against a decent team when we missed 3 chip shot FGs. There's no such thing as backing in, either you win the games you need to win or you don't. I never get why Jet fans get upset when we make the playoffs, it's almost as if they don't want to go. We won in oak in '01 and finished winning 7 of our last 10, crushed NE and Gb in '02, we won 5 of 6 in '06 and if we make it will win 5 of 6 this year. The only year we struggled late was '04 but we won 10 games and did enough to win and '04 was probably our best team this decade('04 or '02, I wish we had the '02 O w/ the '04 D).
Ironically, the best case to be made for "backing in" was 2004 and that was the closest we came to the championship game this decade. I think 1998 has to be discussed seperately, that was the only time we got a bye and second round home game, plus we were incredibly hot going in and Parcells never took his foot off the gas. The last regular season game at home vs NE we played the starters the whole game and crushed them, knowing we had a bye coming.
i think the play calling was getting him back there with the bootlegs and roll outs. take away those 2 3rd down dwight freeney ezpass sacks who knows
Hahaha, that's all I needed to read right there. But... ... THAT was a close second. Thank you for the laughs.
They rest their guys late in seasons when things are wrapped up, that's what Indy does(they are dumb b/c they must realize by now it doesn't work but that's not our problem). You think they would rathewr beat NE in a meaningless reg season game in Week 16 than get ready for the playoffs? If they do then that explains alot about why Indy can't win in January.
