I know. I was just trying twitch a few things just so that we could start blaming those that have done more good for the organization than harm. Sorry, just couldn't find the 'sarcasm' button in other words LOL.
Maybe it is the GM and Woody? The rookie QB hasn't played well that's an understatement but the Jets are a bad football team going way beyond the rookie QB. Here's a fun fact. We are 10 games into the season in the last 5 games, half of the season, which teams have a worse record than the Jets? Answer 1 the Cleveland Browns. Who was the last HC hired by our GM? Right now we are arguably the second worst team in the NFL. What is our over all record since we were 8 and 3 last year. This team is going south. We are now beyond a bad competitive team we are heading toward a team in complete collapse in a league designed to make bad teams competitive.
Chad deserves better than to come back to the Jets. My guess is he will be Tom Brady's backup if he gets cleared to come back. Sanchez' mentor is Matt Cavanaugh, longtime NFL vet who is on the CS.
It'll be interesting to see if Woody can pull this together without really blowing things up. I really think the Jets are stuck with Tannenbaum and Ryan through 2010 regardless of what else happens this year. The team needs a year to stabilize if they're going to have any hope of moving forward. What I worry about is another 100 million dollars getting spent on free agents in the uncapped season and then seeing a 9-7 type effort out of the team followed by a total collapse into Redskins territory (if we're lucky) and another wasted decade. What's maddening is that the blueprint to be successful in the NFL is out there in plain sight and it just doesn't matter - the Jets are going to do something weird and unsuccessful anyway.
Shotty will be thrown under the bus before either Ryan or Tannenbaum go. Herm and Bradway survived for years by blaming the DC than the OC. We need some very productive drafts going forward and allot better coaching staff and game day management. It could take years to rebuild this team.
Seriously, Sanchez is going to be good. They would have been better this year with a veteran qb but it is what it is. They may still win 8-10 games with a rookie qb. Might as well blow the entire team up. Schotty Jr needs to go, a veteran qb needs to be added. The defense has been in horrible situations all year due to the offense and yet they still have played great with the exception of a handful of quarters.
The game today was a prefecet example of what we should have been doign the past few weeks. Run Heavy. Simple passing routes. Take a punt when we had to. Do not thorw one up for grabs. Run or take the sack if need be. Our Defense stopped the run and got to cause havoc on third and long. The First drive by the panthers ahd me steamed, but we settled down after the revis pick. Hell, without Kris Jenkins, We shut down the panthers running attack today. Thats huge for this defense moving forward. I'll be happy watching close battles for feild position for the rest of the year knowing we have a lot of the rigth peices to keep moving forward.
Exactly. I thought we would be basically try to duplicate the Ravens of last year. Put the defense in the best possible situations and give up field goals at worse. Run the ball, let the qb make safe throws in a risk averse offense. Take a few shots deep to keep the defense honest but realize that if you don't turn the ball over the defense will give you a chance to win every week. Against Jax, Sanchez already had a pick before the defense got on the field. Against the Pats, the Jets had already forced two punts before the first Sanchez pick. Once he threw the pick the defense lost all momentum. With this defense if you don't turn the ball over, don't give up bad field position, limit your penalties, you will win a lot more then you lose. Unfortunately Rex and Schotty Jr is like mixing water and oil. It's the reason we won't make the playoffs this year.
